Penny is book two in the ‘Unbowed’ series by Liz Meldon. It looks at the characters Penny, a born submissive who works as an escort/Domme and although she says she’s happy, you certainly get the feeling that she isn’t and she’s missing something. Enter Felix, Dom, friend and Fashion guru who proposes that Penny become his submissive whilst Fashion Weeks around the world go on. Felix has been in love with Penny for years but has kept his distance knowing some but not all of her past and how shaky she can be. Here in lies the problem, for Felix to make Penny submit, he’ll have to help her get out of her head which is easier said than done.
This book was fast paced from beginning to end as you were genuinely rooting for the characters. There were some scenes which were quite heart-breaking when you find out about what has happened to Penny and how she thinks she has moved on. The interplay between her and Felix is at times quite funny, but full of passion, kink and friendship. There are certainly times where Penny is a brat and Felix put her in her place. Some scenes were interesting for me as a reader as although I have read books based on BDSM before there were a few new surprises in this book which I found entertaining, sexy and hot to read!
I also liked that this book had a story, it wasn’t just all about the sexy scenes, but also Felix and Penny’s relationship as well as giving us a glimpse into the world of fashion which was entertaining. Felix for me, was a great character and he had a lot to give and knew just how to push Penny into becoming a better more accepting person of herself.
This book certainly looks at how different types of love can be expressed, how the past can trigger events in your life and how you need people in your corner to help you along the way. This book was erotic, steamy, romantic and wonderful to read! A must for all romance, kink fans.
