While I don’t particularly care about your feelings in the matter, and while I pursue her despite the wedding bells that rang for another, only I can see how she is drowning beneath mediocrity.

How many times must I remind her?
It can’t matter that I am the person who ruined her life.

The man who killed her father.
The constant shadow that watches her sleep.
The lover who prefers dirty alleyways to freshly laundered sheets

She’s mine. Always has been.

Review: Trials of Ravenwell - Taylor Spratt

Trials of Ravenwell: A Reverse Harem Bully Academy Romance Trials of Ravenwell: A Reverse Harem Bully Academy Romance by Taylor Spratt
My rating:⭐⭐⭐ stars

Trials of Ravenwell is the second book in the Four King’s Academy series by Taylor Spratt. The book begins where the first one ended where Aria is forced into a tournament to be a Queen, but only two of the men can be King. To top off the games, Aria is also fighting for her life against Galima who keeps sending assassins Aria’s way and the Chancellor has an evil agenda which is forcing the Academy to turn on itself. To say that Aria isn’t having an easy time is kind of an understatement. Underneath it all, Aria is still stuck in the middle between the four men and nothing seems to be really going her way.

This story is told from multiple points of views so you get to see and understand more of the characters whilst laughing along with Aria’s internal monologue. There is a lot going on in this story and it would really benefit you as a reader if you read the first book to understand who everyone is and you get to know them better than in the first book. The story is flowing and full of action and there as like the last book is a huge cliff-hanger at the end…it’s just priming you for the next installment.

Review: Lawless - Crystal Ash

Lawless Lawless by Crystal Ash
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Lawless is book one in the Steel Demon’s MC by Crystal Ash and it is certainly a different type of read. Set in the post-apocalyptic future, the world has changed. When the Collapse happened, the world changed, men became killers and women became property, only fit for breeding. All Mariposa wants to do is be a nurse and her dream was in the palm of her hand until the Collapse happened. Not being a registered nurse, she travels from place to place as a medic, trying to help where she can. That is until she comes under the radar of Reaper and his MC.

We follow the story as it slowly burns into a steamy harem-based theme with Mari learning her place in the MC and what each role the men she has met will have in her life as well as their role in the MC. Reaper, Jandro, Gunner and Shadow are all forces to be reckoned with and all have their own role within the MC. As you read about them, they seem to weave a spell on you and you can understand why Mari finds fighting her attraction so hard whilst trying to balance her morals with what is right and what ones does in order to survive.

This is certainly a slow burn book and it does start off a little slow but as it is part of a series, I understand the first book being all about setting the scene which it does really well. There is a lot going on in the background between characters and the end of the book leaves you wanting more which is the general idea when writing a series. Even though Crystal Ash is new to me as an author, she really has me intrigued as a reader as her books are really different, enticing and leaves you a little bit breathless. I for one will be reading the next book in this series.

Review: Most Valuable Playboy - Lauren Blakely

Most Valuable Playboy Most Valuable Playboy by Lauren Blakely
My rating:⭐⭐⭐ stars

Most valuable playboy is book one in the Ballers and Babes series by Lauren Blakely. The story focuses on the relationship between Violet and Cooper. Cooper is a NFL player who has just started on the front line this year and is waiting for his million dollar contract to come through. To help with his image, he and his football brothers are being auctions for a children’s hospital charity night, only it doesn’t go to plan for Cooper and he is in the front line of being auctioned off to a cougar who doesn’t want him for his brains. The fact that the cougar is also his team’s owner sister doesn’t help matters. To get him out of it, he enlists the help of his sister’s best friend Violet who helps him out of the bind.

Violet is a hairstylist who from the get go is just a genuinely nice person. Even though she doesn’t suffer Cooper, she really likes him and doesn’t have any second thoughts when it comes to helping out of his bind. The only problem is that she has deeper feelings for him and she has for a while. How does she balance this pseudo-relationship without getting in too deep?

This is a slow burn story which focuses on friendship, relationships and wanting to be the best version of yourself. There is a lot of funny moments between Violet and Cooper but for me as a reader I didn’t necessarily feel the sexual tension like I have in previous Lauren Blakely books, but there are a lot of fun, cute and sweet moments which makes this book and overall easy read. There isn’t a lot of drama in this book, just two people trying to work out their relationship and life and finding a balance.

Review: The Russian Thug: Abducted by the Bratva - Rie Warren

The Russian Thug: Abducted by the Bratva The Russian Thug: Abducted by the Bratva by Rie Warren
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

The Russian Thug: Abducted by the Bratva is book 1 in the Krasnov Brothers series by Rie Warren. The story focuses on Joanne ‘Jo’ O’ Sullivan and Kirill Krasnov. Jo is part of the O’ Sullivan family or more so the Irish mob, but not everything is what it seems with her. One day when she is making her usual delivery to the Russian Bratva (where Kirill is part of), she is stopped due to a screw up on her family’s part and her true identity coming to light. From here, Jo is abducted by Kirill, toyed with, but not everything goes to plan as games are played and relationships are built.

Jo and Karill are a force to be reckoned with. She is super sassy and has been through a lot of heart-breaking things in her life. When Kirill finds out the truth about what her father has put her through, he will go to the ends of the earth to protect her, even if it is from her remaining family. Kirill is the quintessential dominant male. He is Bratva and everything that that entails. Often cold, a killer and alpha, he puts his family first, so he is ultimately intrigued when he comes across Jo and what she could mean for his future.

This was a fast-paced book full of action, spicy romance and great characters. Jo and Kirill work so well together and she definitely puts him in his place when he needs it and it was really different and entertaining seeing the two different types of background that the two came from. I really liked that Kirill was an alpha male but didn’t intentionally go out of his way to hurt Jo, it was kind of a love at first sight but deny it type of thing for him which at times was quite amusing. Jo, was just one of those characters that you really like, after everything she has endured, she is still a nice person and strong enough not only to face Kirill but also his family and being in the mafia. If anyone should be a queen, it’s her. A must read book!

Review: Derek - LeAnn Ashers

Derek Derek by LeAnn Ashers
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Derek by LeAnn Asher is book four in the Grim Sinners MC. It focuses on the characters Derek and Brittany, two characters who seem to have been on each other’s radar for a long time. Derek hasn’t done anything about it as he was waiting for Brittany to grow up a little bit.

As this is an MC book, you know that there is going to be some drama and angst along the way and there totally is in this book. Not only are Derek and Brittany trying to get their relationship on track, they also have to deal with a cartel boss who wants Brittany for himself  as well as things that go on within the MC. Throughout this book you see the growth of Brittany and how she has to come to terms with the life Derek has within the MC as well as her own life and how she can still have her independence as well as a family life within the MC.

This is a scorching hot book to read. The chemistry just comes off the pages when it comes to Derek and Brittany. Brittany is one of those characters that you instantly like, not only is she sweet and sassy but also strong and vulnerable at times which really balances out Derek’s own vulnerabilities as well as masculinity. He has known for a while that Brittany is his and he is not afraid to show her and others the lengths he is going to go to too keep her safe and make her his.

A really good, gritty MC read.

Review: Glass Heart Savage - Lindsey Iler

Glass Heart Savage Glass Heart Savage by Lindsey Iler
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Glass Heart Savage is one of those reads that stays with you long after you finish. It is full of angst, intrigue, rip your heart out heart-break and so much tension. The story focuses on the characters Palmer and Marek. Palmer lost her sister a year ago to suspicious circumstances and right in the middle of that are Marek, Dixon, Breaker and Byron who seemed to have this intense yet strange relationship with Palmer’s sister. Palmer hasn’t been on their radar, after all, she was only the ‘other’ sister. But soon she finds herself thrown into their spotlight and nothing is going to stop them to expose Palmer’s sister’s killer, even if it means using Palmer to do so.

This book was everything you want in a book. It was hot, steamy, scary, intense and every other emotion in between. Palmer is one of those amazingly strong characters who just keeps getting up even when she is pushed down. She doesn’t suffer what the boys are doing and seems to have a lot of power behind her vulnerability. She speaks her mind when it comes to the boys and knows something wasn’t right about her sister’s disappearance.

There are so many twists and turns in Marek and Palmer's relationship and he is certainly a guy that you love to hate. The things he and his boys due to Palmer are crazy and as a reader you king of get it, but OMG they are messed up! There are some really intense, sexy scenes between Palmer and Marek and even though he tells her not to fall for him or believe what he is saying, Palmer certainly falls down the rabbit hole. Palmer’s relationship with the rest of the boys is also intriguing and disturbing to say the least and you’re always wondering what they are going to do next. There are moments of pure agony in the book when it comes to Paler and what she has gone through, not only with her sisters, but also her parents and social standing that she has in school which in part is due to a lot of influence from the boys!

This is a must-read intense bully romance with so many twist and devious turns. There is a cliff-hanger that will have you shouting at your e-reader in a fit of rage, but boy is it good. This was a really great read and I can’t recommend it enough! You’re just going to have to take the plunge!

Review: Dark Prince - Michelle Hercules

Dark Prince Dark Prince by Michelle Hercules
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐ stars

Dark prince is book 1 in the Blueblood Vampires series by Michelle Hercules. The book tells the story of Lucca Della Morte a vampire and Vivienne, a human. Vivienne is asked to steal something from Lucca in order to help save her brother. If only the story was a s simple as that. The necklace that she has to steal is to give to a Dragon kingpin. We don’t really find out why he needs it until some things come to light at the end of the book (the book was definitely set up to be part of a series). To steal the necklace Vivienne has to take a potion to enter Bloodstone Academy where vampires, witches and the likes go. The potion is to help cover her scent which is does in a way, but what it doesn’t stop is her ever growing attraction to Lucca.

The story has a lot of twist and turns. Vivienne is a little bit ordinary and very naive when it comes to the vampire traditions and there are some parts in the book which are quite amusing as she tries to hide who and what she is. The irony is that Lucca pretty much figures it out at the beginning of the book but decides to play a cat and mouse game with her whilst also trying not to give into the attraction he feels for her.  There is a lot of push and pull between these two characters as they try to navigate what each other wants and what they mean to each other.

You’re definitely thrust into a world which is ruled by the supernatural here where they are clear lines that people don’t cross. The book is full of actions and intrigue and you are left trying to figure out what side of the fence people are on whilst navigating Vivienne and Lucca’s relationship. There certainly is a lot going on in this book but in saying that you’re going to be set up for book 2 and what that is going to entail.

Review: Mason - Michelle Heard

MASON MASON by Michelle Heard
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Mason by Michelle Heard is one of those books that pulls you in and doesn’t want to let you go. This is the second book in the trinity Academy Series and if you’ve read the first book ‘Falcon’, you would have met Mason and Kingsley who this story is about. Mason Chargrill is going to be the President of CRC Holdings and that entails. He comes across as cold and callous after a family tragedy has left him devastated. Enter Kingsley, a bubbly and lovely young woman who gives as good as she gets to Mason, who she is now assistant too. Nothing Mason seems to do bursts her bubble and he can’t figure out how she has managed to wheedle her way into his heart.

This was a great addition to the series. Mason and Kingsley are great together and it was wonderful to read how that was happening. There were some tense moments throughout the book where Kingsley was in danger and Mason didn’t know how to handle his feelings or even what being in a relationship would mean, but it all seemed to work out and I have to say that Kingsley seemed to make Mason more human and help him with his family tragedy.

I loved the building relationship that Mason had with his mum and dad and what that looked like and the courage it took to face those emotions head on. As always, the rest of the gang are back and the camaraderie and love they have for each other is really touching as a reader. There are so many emotions when reading this book and although it has a HEA, it isn’t really tied up in a bow, highlighting how ‘real life’ the stories that Michelle Heard write. I can’t wait to read lake’s story which is the next one in the series. Overall, a great read for me!

Review: Fiery Surrender - Mari Carr & Lila DuBois

Fiery Surrender Fiery Surrender by Mari Carr
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Fiery Surrender by Mari Carr and Lila Dubois is the eleventh book in the Trinity Masters Series. This book follows Langston who has finally taken his place amongst the Masters and now he has to meet the rest of his trinity who happens to be Rich and Mina. But not everything goes to plan. Langston is struggling to fit into the society he has just found as well as balance his new romance as he is hurtled head first into finding a bomber in Europe.

If you’ve read this series before, you know going into it that it is going to be hot, steamy, intense, passionate and have lots of twist and turns. This one was no different. From the first page, you were on the edge of your seat wondering what was going to happen next whilst running around the labyrinth of your mind trying to figure out what was going to happen.

The ménage relationship is always intriguing as you always wonder if someone is going to feel left out, but this book the whole ménage thing is just hot! The characters all seem to get each other, emotionally and physically and they just fit together perfectly.

I would definitely recommend you reading previous books in the series so that you understand the set up and some of the other characters that pop up, but if not, you’re still going to enjoy this book. The authors seem to work together seamlessly to write really amazing books with everything you want in the suspense romance genre. A really good read!

Review: Submitting to the Alpha - Emilia Rose

Submitting to the Alpha Submitting to the Alpha by Emilia Rose
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Emilia Rose is a new author for me and her book Submitting to the Alpha is a seriously hot read! The book focuses on Isabella, a young woman who keeps trying to entice her aloha by leaving her curtains open at night so that he can see what she is doing. Not only that, but she also wants to be a warrior. But life is not as easy for Isabella as she wants it to be…her alpha wants to protect her at any cost, even if that means driving her away!

This book is full of actions, sexy scenes and a great story line. Isabella is a really strong character who knows her mind and knows what she wants to be in life. That doesn’t mean that she doesn’t make mistakes as she does throughout this novel, but more through stubbornness and a need to succeed than anything else. It doesn’t help that her alpha, Roman is deliciously hot but also just as stubborn and also makes mistakes along the way.

The story flows really well and you’re captured not only by the relationship that both Isabella and Roman have which is complex to say the least, but also the story of Isabella finding her place in the world and coming up against road blocks, whether that be people or situations.

There are some hot scenes in this book and some moments where you want to shake both characters. As a new reader to this author. I can only say how much I enjoyed the give and take of both characters as well as secondary characters and the role they played in Isabella and Roman’s life…if only they both weren’t so determined and head strong.

A really strong, paranormal read!
