Break
Inside by Karen Renee is part of the Riot MC Next Generation series and focuses
on the characters Ryan ‘Nickel’ and Ivy. All Ivy wants to do is find her sperm
donor, but when she does Ryan and his two siblings are standing in her way.
When Ivy gets into a spot of bother, it is Ryan that literally stands in the
way of a gunman to save her, even though it means being taken himself. Thus,
starting the slow burn romance between the two as they try to survive a gunman
and threats not only to themselves but also other members of the MC.
This book
starts straight in with the action and although we get a little bit of
backstory, this series is very much focused on the new generation with other characters
popping up now and again. I liked the sass that Ivy gave Ryan. Yes, she thought
her was cute, but she wasn’t going to put up with his nonsense either, especially
when at the start he certainly got it all wrong on why Ivy was looking for her ‘father’.
Both
characters fight the feelings they have for each other from the get go and don’t
want to get into a relationship, but low and behold, that is exactly what they
get into, and they’re totally meant to be together. Ryan is a protector trying
to look after a woman who can protect herself, and Ivy smooths some of Ryan’s rough
edges.
I liked
that this story didn’t have any relationship angst and it was more focused on
the action and attention that outsiders were trying to throw at them.
I would definitely
read the previous books in this series as well as the series before just to get
your head around characters and things that may be going on with them and the
MC. But, if you love strong characters and a great storyline, you’re going to
want to read this book!
