Review: Ransom: Gray Wolf Corp Texas - Crystal Daniels & Sandy Alvarez

Ransom: Gray Wolf Corp Texas Ransom: Gray Wolf Corp Texas by Crystal Daniels
My rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟 stars

Ransom by Crystal Daniels & Sandy Alvarez was a beautifully written story about second chances. It is book one in the Grey Wolf Corp Texas series and follows the story of Ransom and Genesis. Genesis is moving her family to Greystone, Texas for a fresh start for herself and her two children after the death of her husband. Starting a new life isn’t easy and with a new business and making sure her children are okay, she has no time for me, especially one as rugged as Ransom.

Ransom works as a bounty hunter for Grey Wolf Corp with his two best friends, but sadly they have put themselves in the crosshairs of the cartel they have been fighting and things become very complicated. Balancing his life, daughter and insta-attraction to Genesis whilst fighting the cartel is not going to be easy, but it seems love will prevail!

This was a beautifully written book filled with angst, love, family and some action. I loved the relationship that Ransom and Genesis had, being available for each other whilst balancing their life and their children. There were some sad moments when Genesis reminisced about her husband, but I never felt like Ransom was trying to take his place at all but rather just at to Genesis and her children’s lives.

Ransom was also just a good guy, yes, a little bit intense but he always had the best of intentions. I also loved the relationship he had with his family and the backstory we got about them. I also loved the steamy scenes that he had with Genesis and helped her to flourish again after her husband’s death.

Overall, this was a great read with some great characters. As a new series, it left me wanting to see what was going to happen next and with who.

Review: Tidal Wave - E.M. Lindsey

Tidal Wave Tidal Wave by E.M. Lindsey
My rating: 🌟🌟🌟 stars

Tidal Wave is book one in the Broken Chains MC series by E.M. Lindsey. The book focuses on main characters Gunner and Logan. Gunner is part of the Broken Chains MC and has spent most of his life running from his horrific past. He keeps his head down, works hard at his job and looks after his little sister, but he feels like he is always looking over his shoulder and with good reason too, the past is never far away! To make his life more complicated Logan enters the scene, a young, deaf man who is trying to find his own identity and make ends meet. Doing some odd jobs for the MC whilst balancing his other two jobs means that he doesn’t have a lot of time to spare, but when he is thrust into danger, it is up to Gunner and the MC to look after him.

This was definitely a slow burn read with Gunner and Logan kind of feeling each other out throughout the book until they do get together. There is also a lot of other things going on in this book such as Gunner’s past coming back to haunt him as well as trying to keep his sister and Logan safe.

We also see from Logan’s POV and how he communicates with the world. I enjoyed him teaching the others on how to use ASL as well as seeing what Logan’s life was like with his family. Although they gave him all the love he needed, he still felt like they didn’t quite know who he was.

Overall, a slow burn MC read with questions that will get answered over the course of the series.

The hotter the flame, the bigger the fire.

I’m a smokejumper.

And right now, it’s sending me from Baton Rouge to New Orleans.

Louisiana has called for a state of emergency because of a category five hurricane.

First responders from all over the country are coming to help.

It’s where I run into Ryan. A paramedic from Las Vegas.

He’s brave, smart, and gay.

I don’t have an issue with that.

And while I’m getting to know him, I start to battle a different kind of fire.

Our jobs are dangerous, and I don’t believe in waiting for the right time to get what I want.

There’s a problem. He has one rule.

He doesn’t do straight guys.

I’ll have to jump in the smoke and flames between us to show him I have no hesitation.

K.L. Savage decided they were tired of looking for the kind of books they wanted to read. They had an itch that needed to be scratched, and as every girl knows, nothing scratches better than an alpha.

They write about gritty, alpha males, sometimes their dark sides, and the women they love.

If you have the same itch, their alpha males should fix that.

Review: Touched by Fire - Kel Carpenter

Touched by Fire Touched by Fire by Kel Carpenter
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Touched by Fire is book one in the Demons of New Chicago series by Kel Carpenter and boy does it pack a punch. The story looks at Piper, a bounty hunter who is both strong, sassy and takes no poo from anyone! She hates magic with a passion but there is something about her that makes her ‘not human’, even though she tries to hide it. On a night where she has to stop a group of witches from raising a demon, her plans go awry, and the hunter becomes the hunted and she has a bigger price on her head than her former boss trying to kill her….a demon that thinks she’s his mate!

This book was action packed and a lot seems to happen in in, from seeing a little bit into Piper’s past to her budding friendship with witch Nathalie who become something like a dynamic duo! The two try and survive, but when they are pitted against Piper’s former boss…Lucifer…yes ‘the’ Lucifer, things don’t always go to plan. Throw into the mix the demon, Ronan and you have an action-packed urban adventure.

This book was really enjoyable, and I’m surprised that I hadn’t read this author before. I enjoyed the switch between characters so that we found out more about what they were thinking, and planning and I especially liked the snarkiness that Piper and Nathalie had with each other. It is going to be interesting to see how that friendship develops.

The story does end with a cliff-hanger, but for once that doesn’t bother me and I can’t wait to see the trouble that Piper gets into next as she figures out what she is and tries to stay alive!

Review: Savage - Caitlyn Dare

Savage: A Dark High School Bully Romance Savage: A Dark High School Bully Romance by Caitlyn Dare
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Savage by Caitlyn Dare is book one in the ‘Savage Fall Sinners’ by Caitlyn Dare. The story centres around the sassy, main character Sadie Ray. The Princess of the Savage Falls MC and who also happens to be the daughter of the MC President! Not that it helps her street cred at her local school, but instead it causes a lot of issues, especially when the star footballer seems to want nothing more than to make her life a living hell.

We’re also introduced to Rhett ‘ Savage’ and Dane ‘ Stray who are part of the Savage Falls MC and who have a push and pull when it comes to Sadie. Rhett wants Sadie but wants to protect his sister more. He also has some preconceived ideas about Sadie, which comes to bite him in the butt a few times. He can also be a bit mean to her, but that doesn’t stop Sadie in her tracks! Then there is Dane who is the soft and tender, old friend. Both him and Sadie grew apart, but that relationship definitely changes when Dane sets his sights on her again.

I really enjoyed reading the push and pull between the three main characters and it will be interesting to see where Wes (one of the footballers) is going to fit into this dynamic, especially as in this book it isn’t being labelled yet, but rather everyone is trying to figure out where they fit. Scenes are supremely steamy and page turning as is the story in general. Secondary characters also help to move the story along and add their own dynamic to the story.

As it is a first book in the series, you’re left with a lot more questions that answers, and there is a huge cliff-hanger at the end! Which definitely is going to make you want to read the next book in the series.

If you like a great RH, MC romance with brooding, sexy and strong characters, then this is a book for you!

Review: First Comes Blood - Lilith Vincent

First Comes Blood First Comes Blood by Lilith Vincent
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

First Comes Blood is the first book in the Promised in Blood series by Lilith Vincent. It is a dark, mafia romance so get ready for a heady, twisted and sensual ride. The story focuses on main character Chiara who is placed between a rock and a hard place on her seventeenth birthday when she is promised to one of four men by her crooked mayor father. The story follows her introduction to these men, men who all want something from her and are willing to take it, with or without her permission.

Chiara goes through a lot in this book, and we see her development from shy and introverted young teen to a young woman who is just trying to survive. She is put in a lot of precarious situations and with men who you never quite know if they want to love her or kill her!

This is definitely a slow burn, reverse harem. Chiara is seventeen at the start of the book and the guys take it somewhat slow with her, but by the end of the book there are some scorching hot scenes and an epic cliff-hanger.

The men in the story are dominant, bloodthirsty and definitely crazy. It is going to be interesting to see their development as the story goes along as there was definitely a lot of twist and turns in this story about them as well as some deliciously dropped hints about them too throughout the story as well as where Chiara is going to fit into all of it, or if she is just a pawn.

If you like your stories dark and twisted, blood driven and sexy then this is the book for you!

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊

Review: Rainbow - K.L. Savage

Rainbow Rainbow by K.L. Savage
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Rainbow by K.L. Savage is book one in the Ruthless Kings MC: Baton Rouge series. The book focuses on Rainbow and Ryan. Rainbow and his brother  went through a lot with the death of their parents when they were teenagers. It leaves Rainbow wanting to be look after everyone as well as giving him a passion to be a firefighter and smokejumper, which puts him in danger every day.

Ryan is the sassy paramedic who has rules against sexy, straight firefighters, but he has an insta-attraction to Rainbow when he meets him. When Ryan’s life is put in danger, Rainbow comes to his rescue, and they have to figure out if they can make it work when it seems that someone is against them.

This story is action packed, not only are the men dealing with a hurricane hitting them, but also Rainbow continuously putting himself in danger and someone in the MC trying to kill everyone. Wrapped up in the suspense is love, which is the premise for the whole story. Even though Rainbow is classed as straight, he feels instant passion and feelings for Ryan and even though they are both scared, they just seem to click instantly.

I also love the relationship that Rainbow has with his brother. He is protective of him but also helps his brother to stay strong. It will be interesting to see if Mime gets his own stories and what else is going to happen within the Ruthless Kings MC.

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊

Review: Untraceable - Laura Griffin

Untraceable Untraceable by Laura Griffin
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Untraceable by Laura Griffin was a fast paced read centering on character Alex Lovell a PI who has a background in computers and making people disappear. Alex has helped Melanie Bess escape her abusive husband, but now things aren’t adding up when Melanie goes missing and is feared dead. Alex tries to get the help of Austin police detective, Nathan Deveraux and a forensic scientist group known as Tracers, but as more of the case unfolds, the more complicated it gets, especially when Alex’s lead suspect is a police officer.

This story had a lot going on in it, not only are we following Alex’s story as well as her relationship past and present with Nathan, but also a few other characters. There are also a lot of twist and turns as we try and figure out what has happened to Melanie and her role in what is going on. Alex is like a dog with a bone, she doesn’t let things go and often puts herself in danger, much to Nathan’s frustration.

As a first book, there were a lot of characters to get to know and I’m hoping when reading more of this series that we find out a bit more about them as well as a bit more about Alex’s background as we only got snippets of it throughout the story. Overall, the story was well written with a lot of suspense, drama and some romance. It is going to be fin reading what else is going to happen to Alex and Nathan. A really enjoyable read!

Review: Snow Falling - Davidson King

Snow Falling Snow Falling by Davidson King
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐ stars

Snow Falling by Davidson King was a quick M/M read for me. The story focuses on Snow, a young man who is living on the streets. His rules are, don’t give anyone your name, don’t tell anyone your secrets and trust no one. It is only when he comes to the aid of a young boy that his life is turned upside down and he has to learn, not only to trust but to let go of the secrets that have put his life in danger. To make matters more complicated, the young boy that he saves only happens to be the nephew of Christopher Manos, one of the most powerful crime bosses in the country!

This was a really sweet story and less about the mafia and more about two people meeting and falling for each other, regardless of their backgrounds. I loved how free Snow was with Christopher and how he gave Christopher a little bit of vulnerability which made him more likeable, especially when we saw that he would move heaven and hell to be with Snow.

Snow was just one of those likeable characters who seemed to make people feel good no matter where he was. He also tended to sacrifice himself a little bit more than was necessary, but everything came up smelling roses in the end.

There is a little bit of steamy romance in this book, but the book definitely focuses more on who Snow is as a person tan anything else. Overall, it was a good read with some good characters.

Review: The Queen of All that Dies - Laura Thalassa

The Queen of All that Dies The Queen of All that Dies by Laura Thalassa
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

The Queen of All that Dies by Laura Thalassa was a quick read for me in an exciting and unique book. The world has ended as we know it, the Eastern and Western Hemisphere have been at war for years and left the land uninhabitable, millions of people dead and only one person in power…King Lazuli. King Lazuli is ruthless and takes what he wants, when Serenity Freeman and her father turn up as representatives of the WUN (Western United Nations), he knows that he will stop at nothing to have her! Bit Serenity is not so easily swayed and they [lay a type of cat and mouse game, only with supremely high stakes!

I really liked reading about Serenity’s character. She is hard, strong and doesn’t take any rubbish from the King. In fact, she gives as good as she gets, a true warrior! Throughout the story she continues to fight her attraction to the King, and it is only through manipulation from both sides of the camp that Serenity’s feelings change for him.

King Lazuli is also a unique character. We learn more about him and his background as the story goes on and although he has an insta-type of love for Serenity, he definitely has to work for it. He is pure destruction wrapped up in some sexy arrogance.

The story has a lot going on in it, from both sides as we see why people go to war and the repercussions it has. As well as watching people being played like a game of chess for the ‘greater good’, friends become enemies and enemies become friends in this action-packed book. There are also some heart-breaking moments, especially with Serenity’s father as well as Serenity itself and a lot of mystery that surrounds the King and his long life. You’re going to have to read it to find out what happens and then read the next book in the series as we’re left with an epic cliff-hanger. Another great read from a great author.

Review: Always Been You - Lily Miller

Always Been You Always Been You by Lily Miller
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Always Been You by Lily Miller is a sweet, second chance romance. Livy and Parker were always meant to be together, they had something special, but in the blink of an eye Livy’s world is torn apart and she leaves behind the only man that she has ever loved! Fast-forward eight years and Livy is thrown into Parker’s circles again when she is asked to arrange flowers for his mother’s anniversary and literally, we have instant sparkles! But is Livy willing to risk everything she has worked for to be with Parker and is he willing to change his life in New York to come back home?

This was a beautiful story seen through both Livy and Parker’s eyes. Livy came across as really vulnerable due to her past hurts and she certainly didn’t want to get hurt again, no matter how much she loved Parker. I loved the moments when she was at the beach as it gave her such in depth feeling as a character as she thought through her choices, not only for herself and Parker, but also for the rest of her family.

I really enjoyed Parker as a character, he knew that he still wanted Livy and was honest in how it made him feel when she broke them up. At times, he was a little too understanding, but it definitely worked for this couple. I also loved Parker’s family, they offered some great advice and didn’t hold what Livy’s dad did against her.

This was such a sweet romance, with some scorching scenes between the main characters. I loved how in sync they were even though sometimes their lack of communication was a little frustrating and got in the way of them having their happily-ever-after a little quicker.

Overall, a really good second chance, feel good story!

Review: Kiss of the Blood Prince - Alessa Thorn

Kiss of the Blood Prince: A Fated Mates Fae Romance Kiss of the Blood Prince: A Fated Mates Fae Romance by Alessa Thorn
My rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 stars

Kiss of the Blood Prince by Alessa Thorn is a fast-paced fantasy fae read. The story focuses on the relationship of human Elise and Fae Prince Kian. Kian takes Elise as his slave when he finds her on a train full of humans that have tried to kill each other due to fae magic. He is instantly ensnared by her but has harsh and dark feelings towards anything human. Taking her away and keeping her as his slave is the only option and it is only through her mistreatment and taking of her blood that he sees how important Elise is going to be not only to his people, but also to him!

Elise is a strong character, she has to endure the torture and treatment of the fae, whilst trying not to respond to her feelings for Kian who seems to get under her skin at every opportunity. I enjoyed the fact that she didn’t shy away from him and wouldn’t stay a docile prisoner.

As this is the first book in the series, we get a comprehensive history of what has happened to Kian and his brothers as well and it is violent and bloody. Elise is Kian’s saving grace and makes him become more human and think through his actions a little bit more.

There are certainly dark moments in this book and to be honest, the only one you really feel any empathy for is Elise as she struggles being the pawn in a new and dangerous game of survival. Overall, the story is a quick read with lots going on in it. Scenes are steamy between the two main characters but there always seems to be an edge of violence to the whole book which keeps you turning the page. A really good read!
