Review: Dark Prince - Michelle Hercules

Dark Prince Dark Prince by Michelle Hercules
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐ stars

Dark prince is book 1 in the Blueblood Vampires series by Michelle Hercules. The book tells the story of Lucca Della Morte a vampire and Vivienne, a human. Vivienne is asked to steal something from Lucca in order to help save her brother. If only the story was a s simple as that. The necklace that she has to steal is to give to a Dragon kingpin. We don’t really find out why he needs it until some things come to light at the end of the book (the book was definitely set up to be part of a series). To steal the necklace Vivienne has to take a potion to enter Bloodstone Academy where vampires, witches and the likes go. The potion is to help cover her scent which is does in a way, but what it doesn’t stop is her ever growing attraction to Lucca.

The story has a lot of twist and turns. Vivienne is a little bit ordinary and very naive when it comes to the vampire traditions and there are some parts in the book which are quite amusing as she tries to hide who and what she is. The irony is that Lucca pretty much figures it out at the beginning of the book but decides to play a cat and mouse game with her whilst also trying not to give into the attraction he feels for her.  There is a lot of push and pull between these two characters as they try to navigate what each other wants and what they mean to each other.

You’re definitely thrust into a world which is ruled by the supernatural here where they are clear lines that people don’t cross. The book is full of actions and intrigue and you are left trying to figure out what side of the fence people are on whilst navigating Vivienne and Lucca’s relationship. There certainly is a lot going on in this book but in saying that you’re going to be set up for book 2 and what that is going to entail.

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review 😊
