My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars
Lawless is book one in the Steel Demon’s MC
by Crystal Ash and it is certainly a different type of read. Set in the
post-apocalyptic future, the world has changed. When the Collapse happened, the
world changed, men became killers and women became property, only fit for
breeding. All Mariposa wants to do is be a nurse and her dream was in the palm
of her hand until the Collapse happened. Not being a registered nurse, she
travels from place to place as a medic, trying to help where she can. That is
until she comes under the radar of Reaper and his MC.
We follow the story as it slowly burns into a steamy harem-based theme with Mari learning her place in the MC and what each role the men she has met will have in her life as well as their role in the MC. Reaper, Jandro, Gunner and Shadow are all forces to be reckoned with and all have their own role within the MC. As you read about them, they seem to weave a spell on you and you can understand why Mari finds fighting her attraction so hard whilst trying to balance her morals with what is right and what ones does in order to survive.
This is certainly a slow burn book and it does start off a little slow but as it is part of a series, I understand the first book being all about setting the scene which it does really well. There is a lot going on in the background between characters and the end of the book leaves you wanting more which is the general idea when writing a series. Even though Crystal Ash is new to me as an author, she really has me intrigued as a reader as her books are really different, enticing and leaves you a little bit breathless. I for one will be reading the next book in this series.
