Review: Shadowlands Sector - Mila Young

Shadowlands Sector Shadowlands Sector by Mila Young
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐ stars

Shadowlands Sector by Mila Young is part of the Zombie Year 2099 collection and is book 1 in part of a series. The book focuses on Meira, a young woman who witnesses the death of her mother and community by the hands of the Shadowland Beasts (zombies). Left alone, she escapes into the woods where she lives by herself for many years until she is captured by the Ash Wolves who trade in females, especially those with wolf genetics. Miraculously Meira escapes only to find herself in the hands of Dusan, the Ash Wolves Alpha who knows there is something different about her and isn’t going to trade her until he figures out the truth. Added into the mix of this story is also Lucien and Bardhyl who are also drawn to Meira, even though they know that three alphas cannot claim one female.

The book mainly focuses on the relationship between Meira and Dusan and how even though partially mated, Meira still doesn’t shift. Lucian has a smaller role and we see the development of his character and relationship with Meira as well as the background in what makes him the man he is. the relationship between Bardhyl is short in book one, but no less intense and I am guessing that we find out more about him during the second installment.

This book is full of action and intrigue. Not only do you have the relationship between the wolves, but also what it is like to live in the forest surrounded by these hordes of zombies who seem to be intrigued by Meira. There is a lot of twist and turns in her story and it is only during the last few chapters that we really get to know what is going on with her and why she is so important.

You are certainly left with a cliff-hanger and lots of unanswered questions at the end, but that is what makes the book so exciting. A good paranormal read with some steamy scenes, strong alphas and a heroine that’s not going to give in.

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review 😊
