Forbidden Lust is book 1 in the Kingpin series by Brooke Summers. It looks at the story between Mia and Hudson. Before going off to college, Mia has a one-night stand with a gorgeous man, but leaves early the next morning to get on with her life. Fast forward a few years and Mia is on her way home to see her mum and meet her new step-dad and who should be there but Hudson, her one-night stand and her new stepbrother!
This was an intriguing book as it isn’t like any other mafia romance that I’ve read, especially when you find out that Hudson’s father stepped down due to him marrying Mia’s mum. The story centres around Mia and Hudson coming together and building their relationship whilst Mia learns the truth about who she is and things her mother has been hiding.
The relationship between Hudson and Mia is really steamy and they know what they want when it comes to each other, although there are times when I felt that Mia was extremely emotional and wasn’t listening to what had been said to her as well as her introduction into the Mafia. It is certainly an intense story and Mia’s mother needs a slap up in the head! Just saying!
Hudson is the quintessential alpha male and won’t let Mia bury her head in the sand which I sometimes think she was prone to doing. The side story between Mia and Hudson’s friend was intriguing and I will be interested to see where that goes.
If you like mafia romances with steamy scenes and a good story line, then this is the book for you. I will certainly be reading more by Brooke Summers!
