Lap of Luxury is the second book in the Love Don’t Cost a Thing Series by Brianna Halle and what a second book it is. I was left thinking ‘what did I just read?’ This book is about Damir Ravnikar, a cruel, rich, arrogant, ruthless man who will stop at nothing to hunt down his brother who he feels has double crossed him. Caught in the middle of his revenge is Bethany, his brothers former PA. A sweet girl, trying her hardest to make ends meet after life has dealt her numerous blows. She is definitely a strong-willed character, going up against an even stronger willed character.

This book is pretty explosive in that it has some hard-core sexy scenes. Both the hero and the heroine have a dark, sadistic, crazy side to them which really makes them perfect for each other. Danik has a kind of cruel, twisted, kinky way he sees relationships. He is controlling, domineering and quite arrogant but this contrasts really well with Bethany who can be seen as sweet, virginal and strong minded. They certainly suit each other. The chemistry is off the charts as is the fantasy role play that they character have with each other.

You’re left wanting more from these characters too. There is a little bit of background regarding Bethany and what she has had to endure as well as Damir’s background and how he is the way he is but this is only skimmed upon. Mikhail and Clara also make an appearance and there is a definite difference between their relationship and Damir’s and Bethany’s. Clara comes across as a lot colder than Bethany but also has her own story to tell.

Overall, a really enjoyable, dark, intriguing read and a good ending to a story.
