Review: Bloom (The Order #1) - Nikki Rae

Bloom Bloom by Nikki Rae
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Nikki Rae is a new indie author to me. The writing is deceptively dark, evocative and emotional. Bloom looks at the characters Fawn, who has been sold into slavery. Within her slavery, Fawn has not had an easy life. She has been sold to a cruel monster and left with scars, both emotional and physical and she is content to live under the radar as a maid. That is until she catches the eye of a new Master, Elliot Lyon. Elliot is very different from Fawn’s last Master, he is kind, smart and wants for the most part to know Fawn’s mind. But not all is what it seems and this story takes you on a sensual journey through Fawn’s new ownership and what that means for her fate.

This book is a really intense read, not only because of the subject matter but also because it has so much descriptive writing in it that you’re trying to follow this beautiful writing whilst trying not to cringe in regards to what Fawn has been though. Fawn is a though provoking character as she has so many layers to her and this book just seems to be the tip of the iceberg when it comes to showing her resilience, strong and character. The same can be said of Elliot who you can never quite put your finger on. Is he a good guy or a bad guy? Who knows but you’re definitely going to enjoy the ride trying to figure it out.

This book is sensual and dark, intriguing and haunting, distressing and tantalizing and if this is what Nikki Rae has to offer as a first book then count me in to the rest of this series and her books in general. Be warned, this book is not for the faint-hearted!

ARC received for a fair and honest review.
