Review: Love Drunk - T.L. Smith

Love Drunk Love Drunk by T.L. Smith
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Love Drunk is the first book in the duet series Love Me by T.L. Smith. It looks at the really fast get together of Everly and Gunner. When I say fast, I mean they get together and are married within three months but not everything is what it seems. Everly is the quintessential sweet girl, brought up by Greek parents, she believes in the happily ever afters and is quite happy (to some extent) of having an arranged marriage, but that’s before she meets Gunner who changes everything for her. Gunner is an enigma, he is broody, dark and borders on masochistic. You never get too much out of him and he honestly doesn’t treat Everly very nice and although at times she does stand up for herself, it seems to come as too little too late.

This book has lots of sexy scenes and the beginning of the story sees the development of their relationship and then secrets coming to light. The concept of the arranged marriage is intriguing but you also a bit archaic in the sense that Everly has no say what so ever and when she does stand up for herself either with her father or with Gunner, everything seems to be taken away from her. Gunner’s darkness is also intriguing, especially when you find out how he has become that was and he does bring up the darker side of BDSM which some people may be uncomfortable with.

There are a lot of twists and turns in this book, especially throughout the second half where Gunner seems top do a 180, but you’re also expecting it. You also tend to read this book pretty quick to see what is going to happen and it will be interesting to see what happens with the Everly, Gunner, Alec love triangle which is highlighted throughout the book. The book does end with a cliff-hanger and I am interested to see what happens next and fingers crossed that Everly will start to slap come people up in the head!

If you like dark, intriguing twists and turns in your reading material, then this is certainly the book for you!

ARC received for a fair and honest review.
