Review: Indebted - J.L. Beck & C. Hallman

Indebted Indebted by J.L. Beck
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Indebted by J.L. Beck and C. Hallman is book one in the King Crime Family Series. It is a new series which has duel POV’s from the main characters Enzo and Amara. Enzo is a Mafia man who is trying to find the person who killed his mother when he was a young child and who takes Amara hostage as part of a payment that her father owes him. Enzo is controlling and wants ultimate control of Amara. He is domineering and at times can be cruel to Amara, who is the opposite of him. She is sweet and almost innocent in her outlook in life, yet she has a core strength that we see throughout the book, even when Enzo and his men are being particularly cruel.

This book is definitely a dark and intense read where two characters are trying to navigate the minefield that is both of their lives whist figuring out their relationship which at times is as jagged as glass. This is a gritty, mafia men type book and the characters don’t apologise for the violence that they use against others. The story flows between Enzo and Amara as it builds from enemies to lovers and I do think that Amara helps Enzo on his search for justice by just being sweet and innocent.

If you are a fan of either of these authors, then this is another one to add to your collection!

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review 😊
