My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars
Evil Love is book one in the
Nightingale Series by Ella Fields. The story focuses on Jude and Fern. Fern is a crazy,
obsessed girl, she literally takes things to the next level with her crush on
Jude. But like most bully romances, things don’t go to plan and Fern thwarts
Jude getting back together with his ex-girlfriend, thus putting her in Jude’s
crosshairs and boy does he get her back. Even though the chemistry is amazingly
hot between the two, both characters are absolutely bat poo crazy when it comes
to getting each other’s attention, whether it be positive or negative.
Underneath this storyline, you also
have what else is going on in the background in regard to secrets about the
family and the town that both of the main characters live in. There’s a lot of
intrigue in this book that keeps you turning the pages as well as a lot of
intricately woven strands which all seem to come together by the end of the
book.
The title Evil Love is fitting for
this book as both the characters are really out there emotionally and with how
they react to things in their life. They are the perfect blend of mixed up and
that certainly comes through on the pages. As a reader, there were times where
I really didn’t like either of the characters, Fern, due to her complete
obsessive feelings over Jude which left little else for her to do in their
life. And Jude because he was just downright mean! But, when secrets come to
light, it did help to balance out why these characters were the way they were.
Added into that some really sad scenes between both main characters as well as
some of their family members.
For those who are loving the bully
troupe that is happening at the moment, then this book is going to be the one
for you. And of course, if you are an Ella Fields fan, her writing of
intriguingly scarred, harsh and hard to love characters then you will
definitely enjoy this one!
ARC received for a
fair, honest and sometimes long review 😊
