Royally F**ked is based on the characters from the Royal Sons CA MC which is part of the Royal Bastards MC series written by a huge mix of authors. Elle Boon’s book focuses on Cosmo and Tai. Cosmo has a past, a one that is full of devastation and pain. Even though he is a playboy, we delve into his background to see where he has come from and what he has endured and to say that his past is hard to read is an understatement. The same can be said for Tai, her story is one of pure strength and survival, at times it is also quite hard to read.

Both come together under intense circumstances and both have a lot to overcome. The story centres on Tai and what she has endured and how she is trying to become a strong woman who let’s go of her past. Both her and Cosmo have a lot of passion for each other and that can be seen through their rather quickly developing relationship as well as how they react to each other, which at times is soft and sensitive and at other times is fast paced, frantic and steamy. You can definitely feel the connection between the pages with these two.

The story is a page turner with a lot going on and lots of secrets from Cosmo coming to light for him and his brothers. At times, the book can be difficult to read due to what Tai has overcome in such a short amount of time and could be a trigger for some readers. I enjoyed reading how their clubhouse worked and how they were welcoming of Tai and her circumstances. There are definitely some women in the MC who take no crap from anyone! Just the way it should be.

Overall a good read, with some great main characters and a very intense storyline.

Hear No Evil is book 2 in The Society series by Ivy Fox and just like its predecessor See No Evil, this book is going to take you on a rollercoaster ride of suspense, intrigue and some seriously hot moments! This time Easton is in the spotlight of the Society and when he gets his letter, it seems as though all hell breaks loose. Not only does it effect his family, but he also has to bring into his circle, none other than Scarlett, the town Pastor’s niece. To say that things are going to get intense is an understatement. 

This story was really well written, with lots of twists and turns that keep you guessing who the good/bad guys are. I particularly liked Easton’s flashbacks so that we got to learn a little bit more about him and the boys’ story and how they ended up where they are. I also really liked the relationship that Easton had with his mum, especially as we see him as this foreboding, often cruel type figure, but he certainly isn’t like that with her.

Scarlett on the other hand is an enigma and I loved how she developed throughout the story. She may have been seen as meek and quiet to begin with, but boy did she give Easton a run for his money.  Both of the main characters are complex and deep, which leaves you wanting to know more about them with each turn of the page.

The story is really complex and will keep you guessing long after you have finished the last page! There is just so much mystery, drama, passion throughout this book and the main and secondary characters keep moving places on the chess board in this mysteriously haunting book. This book will leave you with more questions than answers and you’re just going to want to keep reading to find out more. A great read!

Review: Heart Strings - Melanie Moreland

Heart String by Melanie Moreland is a beautifully written, often sad story of trying to live your life when everything is against you. The story focuses on Charlotte ‘Lottie’ Prescott, a woman who hates her job and is slowly dying inside. She goes to work, goes home, and puts it on repeat. On her way home she stops to listen to Montgomery Logan play his guitar in the subway, it is the only thing that seems to soothe her and thus their story begins. 

The story brings together two people who are each other’s anchors. Both Logan and Lottie have had a lot going on in their past as well as in their present, but they seem to melt together and heal each other’s hearts. Lottie’s story is quite sad and the fact that it seems to come to such a disastrous head makes it even more poignant. You don’t have to agree with what her mother and father did to her, but you do feel sympathy for what all of them have been through.

Logan is just one of those instant boyfriends, he is sensitive, strong and caring. He takes care of Lottie the only way he knows how and that is through sheer love and protection, whether it is in his arms or through his songs. 

This was a beautifully written book with some superb characters. The fact that all Logan wants to do is let Lottie shine is a testament to how well written a character he is and how much of a page turner this book is. Melanie Moreland has hit the nail on the head with this one and I can’t wait to see what else she comes up with.

Review: Damaged Goods - Jarica James

Damaged Goods by Jarica James is an impossibly hot, hard to put down book! The story centres on Sana ‘Otsana’ Priamos, a mafia princess who basically doesn’t want to be one. She makes a deal with her Grandfather, the head of her family to give her 5 years to make her own way in life before she takes over the family reins.

Everything seems to be going okay for her…well except for the hitmen that her grandfather keeps sending her way, to keep her on her toes! But in the midst of this and running her gaming business she runs into an ex-boyfriend. One of the Adrostos triplets and boy is he hot and knows exactly how to push Sana’s buttons!
The book shows the push and pull Sana has with the three hot but totally psychotic triplets: Killian, Kyrell and Keir as they try to survive being part of the mafia and figure out who is trying to take their power.

The book has a lot of twist and turns as we see into the past of what Sana has endured by the hands of her grandfather and how this has shaped her as a person. There are some lighter moments to this dark book when it comes to Sana and her cousin, Dani who show the good side to family and have some good sassy moments between them.

The chemistry between Sana and the triplets is scorching hot and there are some pages that will burn your fingers as you read. I also liked how Sana owned her own mind and wouldn’t let the triplets run over her need to be independent, no matter what the cost. Sana is definitely sassy, strong, sexual and a woman who knows her own mind.

This book may have some triggers for some readers as it can be classed as a dark read, but boy is it a page turner with all of the blood and violence that I would expect from a mafia book. It also has a great cliff-hanger and it will be interesting to see what the characters are going to do next, especially with everything that went on in this book. If you haven’t read Jarica James, then you need to start now. A great book!

Pretty Little Savage by Lucy Smoke is one of those books that you can’t put down! With intriguing and mysterious characters, it is definitely a page turner and a book to put on your 2020 TBR list. The book centres on Avalon Manning, a girl from the wrong side of the track who takes no prisoners. She is a hard, dominating character that doesn’t take any crap from anyone, especially those who think they are above her. Throughout the book we get glimpses into her life which at times can be harrowing and often show a vulnerable side to her which we don’t see as she gets older.

The story centres around Avalon being moved to a prestigious school because she has really good grades and is deserving of this all expenses paid experience….only the school is not what it seems and we are thrust into a world where privilege comes with expectations that we only ever get hints about in this book. Thrust into this world, Avalon must not only deal with the ‘rules’ of this society but also being thrust into the ‘Sick Boys’ atmosphere. Boys, or rather young men who are the elite kings of the school and there is no one more elite than Dean whose soul purpose is to control Avalon and bend her to his will….if only it was that easy!

This story is all about the push and pull of Dean and Avalon with the other two Sick Boys in the background, but who still play an important role in this book. There is certainly a lot going on in this novel, first we have Avalon’s story and what she has gone through and who she is as a person. We see how the past has influenced how she is now and why she doesn’t let anyone in as well as how she rationalises everything that happens to her. Pushed into this mix is her relationship with Dean which slowly develops throughout the whole story. Although we get glimpses of Dean’s past, we only get snippets of what being part of his ‘family’ means, we as a reader definitely know that there is more to it than just a dislike for his father….the same can be said for the other two Sick boys and what their roles are not only in this book, but hopefully in books to come.

This book is a never-ending weave of intrigue, suspense and seriously hot scenes and dialogues between the two main characters. There are going to be moments where some scenes may trigger other readers, but this is a dark read so it is to be expected. I for one loved this book and can’t wait to see what happens next especially with the way this one ended!

Cursed is book 21 in the Decorah Security series by Rebecca York. The book focuses on Morgan Kirkland and Andre Gascon. Morgan is given the task of helping Andre investigate the murders which are happening around the Bayou in Louisiana. The book opens straight away with a lot of drama happening to Morgan and some instant attraction happening between her and Andre. Even though she is mourning the death of her husband, she can’t deny that there is a spark and intensity between the two of them.

The book has a lot of twist and turns in it with some added mystery. I loved how the book was based in the haunting Louisiana and how that entwined throughout the telling of the story. As a reader you are drawn into the wonderful story-telling and are intrigued by what is happening in the Bayou, especially with all of the secrets that seems to be going on in it. Two great characters with a great and mysterious story.
