Review: King - K.L. Donn

King King by K.L. Donn
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

King is book one in the Adair Empire series by K.L. Donn and boy does it start off with a bang! Lilith Riley knows that she has a debt to pay and that debt is to none other than King Adair, a man who runs his empire with an iron fist and makes no apologies for it. But he knows that Lilith is different, coming from a background of despair, he has been watching her and is intrigued by her strength and kindness in the face of horrible circumstances. Although he is going to break her and make her pay, he is also going to make her his queen!

This is a fast paced, hot and steamy read. Not only are we transported into King’s empire, with some really intriguing characters. We are also given two complex main characters to read about. We have the strong, feisty yet vulnerable Lilith and the often stoic, strong alpha in King who is only soft for his queen. There is certainly a lot of chemistry between the two and we see their instant attraction to each other from the beginning of the story, right the way through to the end when they have both faced trials and tribulations. This book has actions, danger, sexy scenes with some moments of realizations from both characters, Lilith realizing that she is not her past and King realizing that he can love.

Secondary characters in this series have entertaining moments and it will be interesting to read their own stories as some of them are a little cray-cray! An enjoyable new series for me and I can’t wait to read more!
