Review: Against the Rules - Isabel Lucero

Against the Rules Against the Rules by Isabel Lucero
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Against the Rules is book 3 in the Kingston Brothers series and it doesn’t disappoint. It tells the story of Elijah and Nova. Elijah is the eldest Kingston brother, during a night out he has an intense attraction to Nova who he thinks is going to be a one-night stand…but boy is he surprised when he finds out that she is his student. Being a college professor, Elijah has a reputation to maintain, but that isn’t going to stop Nova from pulling out all the stops to get her man and to also make him lighten up a little bit.

Nova is really mature for her age and after everything she has been through, you can see why. She is strong, sassy and knows her worth and even though she likes Elijah, that isn’t going to stop her from her dreams, even if many of them feature the broody, almost stuck in a rut, older man.

The chemistry between the two of these characters is off the chart as is their story in general. Even though Elijah and Nova are vastly different, they bring out the best in each other. They both love their family and are looking for their happily ever after. Even though some things get thrown in their way to knock them off track, even their own self-doubt, they just work as a couple and you see the relationship develop as the book moves along.

The author knows how to write amazing characters who are sweet, sexy, strong and individual, it also didn’t hurt that the rest of the Kingston brothers made an appearance too and it looks like we may be getting a little something from Merrick in the near future! This was a wonderful older/younger themed book with hints of the forbidden and some suspense that will make you want to keep turning the pages until the very end!

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review 😊
