Fallen is book 7 in the Dark In You series and focuses on the story of Maddox and Raini. Raini will do anything to save her best friend Khloe, even make a deal with a demon who has archangel blood in him, making him someone powerful and who now Khloe is in debt too. Maddox wants Raini but, on his terms, as he has his own secrets which he cannot let Raini know, even if it hinders them becoming more to each other. But, when some unforeseen force starts targeting Maddox, the gloves come off and he will fight to the death and by her side to find out who is trying to cause her harm, even if he has to go against his own people!

I really enjoyed this book and liked the relationship that Maddox and Raini grew to have, I particularly liked their demon’s too and how integral they are to parts of the story. Maddox definitely grows on you as a character the more you read the book, you see why he isn’t emotionally available to begin with and how he sees Raini as his light.

Raini is just a great, sweet but strong character. She has put up with a lot in her life (stepsister for one!) but just seems to get on with it. She thinks nothing about helping her best friend or even helping Maddox when he needs it. Maddox’s demon sees how strong she is and that’s why he’s attracted to her and protects her when she needs it, as does Maddox in his silently stoic way!

I really enjoyed the twist and turns this book took as well as the family that Raini has behind her. There are some great one liner’s by Khloe as always! Overall, a really great addition to this series and I can’t wait to read more!

Review: Break Out - Karen Renee

Break Out is book one in the Riot MC New Generation by Karen Renee and focuses on the characters Simone and Steel. Simon is the daughter of Volt and Jackie, who has just graduated college and realised that her boyfriend is a douche after he strings her along and then dumps her in front of her supposed friends. Here she meets an older man that ticks all of her boxes and after a night of passion, they go their separate ways, its only fate that throws them together and from here they learn that although they have feelings for each other….other elements of their lives might get in the way.

I really liked Steel and Simone’s relationship. It wasn’t all roses and there were times that Steel could be quite arrogant with what he wanted but expected a lot of communication from Simone. And whilst Simone was young and having grown up in an MC, she sometimes found it difficult to not be in the ‘know’, but she definitely understood where Steel was coming from and sometimes was a little to understanding. The two characters work well together though overall, especially with the unrest of two MC’s and family/friends sticking their noses into their business!

Overall, I really did enjoy this read and can’t wait to read the next one in the series!

Clap Back by Lani Lynn Vale is book 4 in the Carter Brothers series and focuses on the characters Auden and Maven. The chemistry between the two is instant but the road to being together is long, especially if Maven’s Chief of Police father has anything to do with it. Auden and Maven have been bumping into each other since Maven opened her bakery, but Auden has always believed his brother was into her (boy was he wrong). From there we have a fast-paced romance with both characters trying to figure out their relationship whilst dealing with sabotage, secrets and danger around the corner.

The element of family is really big in this book, and we see how the Carter family come together to protect Maven and any of her friends that need it. They are definitely a strong unit even with a sense of sadness that touches them all.

I loved that Auden was so protective of Maven and what he was willing to give up for her. Scenes between the two characters were enjoyable and although the story was a little fast paced with a big HEA, it was still an enjoyable read!

Review: Where We Ended - Ashley Munoz

Where We Ended by Ashley Munoz is Book 4 in the Stone Riders MC and there is a lot going on in this story. Silas and Natty have a complicated past and an even more complicated future. Throw in a lot of drama, melancholy, violence and everything in between and you definitely have a page turner. The ends that Silas will go to have Natty is admirable if sometimes a little confusing, sometimes he does things for her own safety but doesn’t communicate that wither, leaving Natty in this limbo of feeling unwanted, especially by the man who owns her heart!

Natty is certainly the light to Silas’s darkness, but that’s not to say that she doesn’t have her own darkness to heal from to. The two of them complete each other really well and definitely deserved their happy endings. Saying that, the lack of communication between the two went on for so long so at times became quite frustrating, but after everything, love seems to prevail.

I would suggest reading previous books in this series, just to know who characters are, where they fit and to find out some of their story. Overall, though, a good read with some complex characters, some flashbacks, action, drama, love and passion.

Undeniably forbidden by J. Saman is book 2 in the Boston’s Irresistible Billionaire’s series and focuses on the characters Owen and Estlin. Owen and Estlin have a one-night stand, thinking that they don’t know each other or that they have a connection. But fate has a way of throwing a spanner in the works and Owen finds out that Estlin is no other than his best friend’s little sister, one who has baggage and also the woman whose panties he stole! Here in starts a story of forbidden romance, drama and some sweet and steamy times. No matter how much Owen and Estlin fight their attraction to each other, things are going to happen.

Owen is a little bit blindsided by Estlin, after being burnt from his divorce and raising his sweet daughter whilst balancing a high-profile career, he doesn’t have time for relationships, but he knows that Estlin is different. Although he can be grumpy sometimes, he has a huge protective streak when it comes to his family and that soon includes Estlin. Try as he might, he just can’t fight the attraction he has for her.

Estlin has had a hard time recently, not only escaping an abusive boyfriend but also losing her passion for her art and also her life in general. Meeting Owen and his little girl changes that, but she is worried about her heart being battered again. She really does bring out the best in Owen, making him smile, laugh and not take his life so seriously. Even with everything going on in her life, she is a genuinely nice and caring character, and this can be seen with her interactions with Owen’s daughter as well as other characters.

This was a sweet and steamy read, with some drama but mostly just characters trying to figure out who they are and what they want without interference from others. Overall, this was a really enjoyable read.
