Review: Dark Poison - Bec Botefuhr

Dark Poison Dark Poison by Bec Botefuhr
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐ stars

Dark Poison by Bec Botefuhr is book one in the Dark Brother series. The book focuses on Jagger and Willow. Willow has had quite a difficult life with her addicted mother and a father who has died. But not everything is as it seems and Willow is caught up in a gang war, kidnapped and abused to find out information that she may or may not know by Jagger and his band of brothers.

The book focuses a lot on Willow and her need to escape as well as her mental health issues which seem to be exacerbated by Jagger who also seems to have his own issues. There is a lot of to and fro in this book regarding the characters getting together, what it means and if Willow has Stockholm Syndrome. There is some violence against Willow from both Jagger and his brothers as well as violence in general as they all try to find out the truth about Willow’s father.

I felt sorry for Willow in the sense that she had such a rough upbringing and the man that is meant to love her (her father) and the Jagger both kind of leave her out to dry in different ways. There are definitely some sexy scenes between Jagger and Willow, but I came away with the sense that they don’t really like each other!

There is a cliff-hanger at the end which I didn’t see coming and readers should read with caution for triggers.

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊
