Review: Obsidian Star: Hook & Tinkerbell Retelling - AJ Wolf

Obsidian Star: Hook & Tinkerbell Retelling Obsidian Star: Hook & Tinkerbell Retelling by A.J. Wolf
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Obsidian Star by AJ Wolf is a dark retelling of Peter Pan but from the point of view of Hook and Tinkerbell. Bellamy (Tink) is a snarky young woman caught up as collateral damage and given to the deliciously dark Hook as payment for a debt that cannot be paid. What ensues is a dark story about giving up control and how sometimes a villain is just a villain.

The chemistry between Hook and Tink was great throughout the story, and I loved the fact that Tink doesn’t really love Hook but loves the power that he wields, even when he makes her own body betray her! Tink is definitely a strong woman and when she goes head-to-head with Hook the results are explosive.

I loved that the book was a retelling and not in the traditional sense. We see Peter as this snivelling, nasty young man who doesn’t take any responsibility and causes a lot of issues for Tink without any apology for it! When Tink comes to her senses about him, it is quite liberating!

This book definitely has a lot of triggers for some readers and may not be for everyone! Overall, a great retelling with some kink, bloodshed and strong characters!

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊
