A Bullet
Between us is the first book by new write K. Dosal. The story is set with a
mafia style background and a woman who feels like she has nothing to lose.
Davina has experienced a lot in her life, and it goes from bad to worse when
she witnesses something she shouldn’t have and becomes embroiled in a fight for
her own life. She is haunted by what she has witnessed, and we see her barely
surviving until Ilias comes along.
Ilias is
a very unique character with a complicated history. He is an enigmatic
character, an alpha but who had a vulnerability to him, which was a refreshing
change for this genre of book. He has to balance two sides of his life, one
being a police officer and the other being part of the Mafia and making sure
he’s protecting his brothers.
The story
is complex and there is a lot going on as we figure out what roles characters
play. I enjoyed the fact that the love wasn’t instant between he two characters
and that Ilias wouldn’t let Davina hide, but also wouldn’t let her do anything
stupid. There was a lot of steamy chemistry between the two characters with a
lot of action and suspense which kept you guessing what was going to happen.
A really
good start to a new series and a new author!
