Review: Vicious Prince - Rina Kent

Vicious Prince Vicious Prince by Rina Kent
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Vicious Prince is book 5 in the Royal Elite series by Rina Kent. This time the story focuses on the ever-smiling Ronan and Teal. If you have been reading this series, you have been introduced to Ronan and Teal in previous books. Ronan always seems to have a smile on his face, is quick witted and a typical playboy, but beneath the surface there is more going on and it is only through the story that we see him develop into a more rounded character, especially when he comes up against Teal, the slightly odd and unfeeling girl who has put herself in Ronan’s cross-hairs by agreeing to marry Ronan in a bid to make her and his father’s working relationship stronger.

From the first page, you are captured by the relationship that is Ronan and teal as well as the secrets that both of them are hiding. Ronan is going to do his darndest to break Teal and the engagement, but teal has come across worse things than Ronan and gives it back to him two-fold. There was certainly a lot going on in this book, not only from previous characters that we have met but also within Teal and Ronan’s relationship. Although it blew hot and cold, you can actually see the moment that both of them realise how much they like and want each other.

As with previous books there is a lot of twists and turns in why characters are the way they are and what level they will go to, to get answers, truth and closure. I particularly liked the relationship that Ronan had with his mother and Lars and we ‘again’ are left with more questions in regards to Cole and what his story is.

There is a lot of slow burning, steamy scenes within this book as well as some softer moments when Teal is learning to become more emotional. This was a beautifully written story yet it may not be for everyone and may have some triggers which will affect other readers.

Overall, another great read in a really great series.

New release: Den of Vipers - K.A. Knight

Title :Den of Vipers
Author: K.A Knight
Release: July 10, 2020
Genre: Contemporary Reverse Harem. Dark Romance. Mafia Romance

Blurb:
Ryder, Garrett, Kenzo, and Diesel—The Vipers.

They run this town and everyone in it. Their deals are as sordid as their business, and their reputation is enough to bring a grown man to his knees, forcing him to beg for mercy. They are not people you mess with, yet my dad did. The old man ran up a debt with them and then sold me to cover his losses.

Yes, sold me.

They own me now.

I’m theirs in every sense of the word. But I’ve never been meek and compliant. These men, they look at me with longing. Their scarred, blood-stained hands holding me tight. They want everything I am, everything I have to give, and won’t stop until they get just that. They can own my body, but they will never have my heart.

The Vipers? I’m going to make them regret the day they took me.

This girl? She bites too.

Review: Savage Beginnings - J.L. Beck & C. Hallman

Savage Beginnings Savage Beginnings by J.L. Beck
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Another great read from the writing duo: J.L. Beck and C. Hallman. The book focuses on the characters Elena and Julian. Elena is trapped in a cage by her father and used as a pawn to cover his debts where she is given to Julian whose ultimate goal is revenge on Elena’s father and to do that, he is going to use Elena how he sees fit until he breaks her.

This book has a lot of twist and turns as you see the relationship between Elena and Julian develop. It did take me a little while to warm up to Elena as a character, mainly due to the fact that it took a while for her to show us her spine and although she was manipulated by both her father and Julian, she wasn’t going to give up without a fight.

Julian is kind of a dark horse throughout the story and you only get to see his bigger picture as more tid-bits of his life are dropped for you to piece together. He isn’t as cruel to Elena as you think he is going to be in the beginning and you can definitely see when his feelings for her start to change, even when he is still thinking of revenge.

This book has a lot going on in it, not only do you have the developing relationship between the two characters, but you also have the mafia background story and how everyone ended up on the chess board. There is betrayal, passion, violence and lies and it is all wrapped up in the story that becomes Elena and Julian.

A must read for all mafia fans and for fans of the fabulous writing duo of J.L. Beck and C. Hallman.

Review: Den of Vipers - K.A. Knight

Den of Vipers Den of Vipers by K.A Knight
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Den of Vipers by K.A. Knight is a standalone, red hot mafia/reverse-harem read and is a definite must read of 2020! The story focuses on the kick-butt character of Roxy, who is sassy, strong, dark, dangerous and completely crazy. She has owned her own bar for a number of years but due to her abusive and absent father has now been caught in the web of the ‘Vipers’ but who is the spider and who is the fly?

The Vipers are made up of four individual men: Ryker – their controlled leader who seems to be a volcano waiting to explode. Diesel who is bat sh*t crazy and doesn’t even hide it well. He is the torturer of the group and likes nothing more than cutting up or burning his enemies. Kenzie, the consummate gentleman until you cross him, yet takes Roxy under his demented wing and Garrett the most damaged and scarred of the bunch, waiting in the wings whilst keeping a close eye on Roxy. Individually these men are lethal but together and added into the mix, Roxy, they are pure danger.

This story is intense as it is complex and weaves all of the characters stories together. The writing is fast paced as you follow Roxy’s journey through being held by these guys to becoming the Queen of the group. Interwoven in these stories are the backstories of each character so that you understand why they are the way they are and how all of them stand on the precipice of control. The dialogue that Roxy has with each ‘brother’ was wonderful to read and she certainly doesn’t take any crap from them.

Saying that though… this book may not be for everyone as it is dark, gritty and raw with some difficult scenes that others might find challenging. But for others, you’re going to love this book. Be warned that it is a rather long book but it doesn’t feel that way as you become so immersed in the story and the characters that it kind of leaves you wanting more. This is my first foray into the mind of K.A. Knight and I have to say that if this is only a glimpse into her writing, then she now has a new fan and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next. This has to be one of the best dark reads I have read in a long time!

Review: The Queen of Carnage - Candice M. Wright

The Queen of Carnage The Queen of Carnage by Candice M. Wright
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

The Queen of Carnage by Candice M. Wright is book 1 in the Underestimated series and can be read as a standalone. The book focuses on Luna, a woman who gets caught in the wrong place at the wrong time trying to save a dog from abuse. From there she is taken prisoner by the Kings of Carnage MC but she isn’t going to go down without a fight….and boy does she do that.

The Queen of Carnage was a great read, not only do you have a feisty, strong female lead who knows what she wants and doesn’t put up with anyone’s rubbish, but you also have some hard, sexy men who are wrapped around her finger! Orion, Halo and Gage are three individual characters, all who have an opinion on who Luna is but we see as the story develops that they understand that she doesn’t need saving, has a brain in her head and can rule like a queen.

The story has lots of entertaining twists, banter and sexy scenes which keep you wanting to read to see what happens. Luna definitely keeps the MC shook up and that’s was probably a good thing especially as we see the story develop not only between her and her men, but also with the other men in the MC (whose stories we’re hopefully going to get in the future). It takes a strong woman to take on the MC and Luna certainly does that.

Review: Escape of the Fae - Taylor Spratt

Escape of the Fae Escape of the Fae by Taylor Spratt
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Escape the Fae by Taylor Spratt is book 1 in the Poison Penitentiary series. The book focuses on Jesy, a sassy, strong alpha Fae who has been sent to Pembroke Penitentiary for various crimes, but unbeknown to the prison, she is also there to get out her weaker brother, Michael. But things don’t go to plan and she finds that he mouth has gotten her into trouble with the warden and she now has a hit on her from everyone in the prison…that is everyone but the four ‘others’ that come to her rescue.

Jesy is one of those characters that you instantly want to read more about. Not only is she strong, has a wicked sense of humour and is ferocious in how she deals with things, but she is genuinely likeable and doesn’t take any crap from anyone and certainly doesn’t need saving in the traditional sense. Add to the mix her four unlikely saviours; vampire, werewolf, dragon and demon and you have a mix of men, personalities and hotness that want you to keep reading.

There are twists in the story-line, different points of view and lots of action in this book. Yes, it is a book in the series so as many questions go unanswered as they do get answered, but that is part of the fun! If you enjoy reading paranormal harem style books with wicked characters and a great story-line, then this is the book for you!
