Review: Hidden - Laura Griffin

Hidden Hidden by Laura Griffin
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Hidden by Laura Griffin is book 1 in the Texas Murder Files series and focuses on the characters Bailey and Jacob. Bailey is a reporter who feels that there is more than meets the eye when it comes to a woman’s body being found on a hike and bike trail in Austin, but when she tries to pry information from detective Jacob Merritt, she’s stonewalled but isn’t going to give up the story, no matter how much Jacob appeals to her. She lets him know that they can either work together or against each other. Either way, she is going to get her story. As the death of the woman becomes more tangled and involves a hitman, Bailey and Jacob realise that they have to come together to get justice and make sure that no other innocent people are going to get killed.

This was a great start to a new series, with some great twist and turns and some darker elements that both Baily and Jacob explore in their search for the truth and finding out how far desperate people will go. I liked that Bailey and Jacob both had integrity, and both had conflict with each other on lines that they were willing to cross when it came to their jobs and information they knew. They definitely had some sizzing attraction too which helped their relationship both professionally and personally. I particularly liked the twist and turns that this story had to offer as well as they storyline of technology and how dangerous it can be in the wrong hands.

Overall, a good, solid start to a new series and a good mystery type thriller.
