Review: Bittersweet Promises - Carrie Ann Ryan

Bittersweet Promises Bittersweet Promises by Carrie Ann Ryan
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Bittersweet Promises by Carrie Ann Ryan is book one in the Montgomery Ink Legacy series and boy is it a sweet one. The story focuses on Leif and Brooke. Leif is part of the Montgomery clan, working in his tattoo parlous and getting on with life. The only thing that is missing is a good woman, and that comes in the form of former flame Brooke who moves next door to his cousin with her little boy. Brooke and Leif met when they were younger and through some cross wires didn’t meet up like they were supposed to, and both were left burnt by it. It is only through meeting up again that the spark fly and their love for each other keeps growing, but it may all be for nothing if Leif can’t overcome his past and reach out and ask his family for help.

This is a beautifully written story with moments of heartbreak, laughs and love sprinkled throughout. The story is about two people who deserve to be together but sometimes fate has other plans until she is ready. Brooke has been hurt in the past and the most important thing to her is her child. Letting Leif in is a big step for her, but she just can’t forget how he made her feel, both the good and the bad.

Leif is a guy who has been through a lot and questions his place in his family. Through meeting Brooke and her son, he can see a lasting relationship, if only his past wasn’t making an entrance. He definitely goes through an emotional rollercoaster throughout the book, but his love for Brooke certainly helps him to stand up and take what he wants.

There is a lot of steam, fun times and family moments in this book. It is a really great start to a series, and I can’t wait to read more about the other characters. A really enjoyable read!

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊
