Awful Intentions by Elena Monroe
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars
Awful Intentions by Elena Monroe is book 2 in the celestial Bodies Series. This one focuses on Nyx and Luna who we met in the first book and takes us on a journey through the past and the present with a few new additions thrown in to mix up the story.
If you’ve read the last book you know that there was a cliff-hanger that ended with the ritual not going the way the gang thought it was going too. After the ritual, Luna is left in a kind of limbo where she is neither good nor bad. She struggles to be her true self and find her balance whilst trying to keep Nyx close whilst at the same time, pushing him away. Within this drama she meets a man called Dorian and everything changes, becoming really complex.
Throughout this we see the brooding Nyx fighting his feelings for Luna, whilst seeing Luna’s true self and being somewhat angry that she is choosing to be with someone else. For Nyx, there seems to be a lot of complicated feelings when it comes to Luna because of his past with Arianne, but he does tell her exactly what he wants from her and he wont settle for less.
Nyx and Luna together are powerful, sexy and strong and it takes both characters some hurdles to come together as a King and Queen. Luna’s lack of faith in herself is poignant and sad as she balances what being with Nyx would be like in comparison to Dorian. And scenes between her and Nyx are complex, sexy and at times absolutely frustrating!
This book is complex as there are a lot of characters in the book that have their own tales and dramas but it is weaved together magically so you are transported into the life of past Gods & Goddesses whose place on the chess board has changed dramatically. There is such a bond between each of the characters (whether they agree with them or not) and it seems exceptionally strong in this book due to the failure of the ritual.
This book is full of different POV’s, drama, angst and suspense which will keep you turning the pages to get to the end to figure out what is going to happen…which you’ll have to wait to find out in the next installment.
ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review
