Review: Taste of Fate - Sophie Ash

Taste of Fate Taste of Fate by Sophie Ash
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

A Taste of Fate by Sophie Ash is a paranormal romance and book one in the Vampires of Sanguine series. Tavia is a good friend, she sacrifices herself to the vampires to save her friend and becomes a blood pet to Cyan as part of an age-old agreement between the vampires and the humans, the only issue is that Cyan doesn’t want a pet. He enjoys being his own man, flitting from woman to woman and not answering to anyone. The only issue is that he hasn’t met Tavia, the strong willed, sassy human, but when he does his opinion changes, but he has already made a deal with her to not drink from her….a deal that is going to be challenging for both of them.

Cyan has been through a lot as a vampire and feels unworthy of a lot of things, but especially of a woman like Tavia. This causes him to push her away a lot and causes some tension between the two as well as misunderstandings, but underneath all the drama, there is genuine feelings between the two.

This story has a few twists and turns going on, with a short backstory on why the vampires get a human sacrifice and what makes the humans so scared. There is also a sub story between Tavia and her best friend which wasn’t my favourite thing, and I found Amy to  be a little judgy (but that’s just me). But I did enjoy the world building, as well as the relationship buildup between Tavia and Cyan. Overall, a good start to a series and I’ll probably pick up the next one!
