Review: Stone Cold Queen - Lucy Smoke

Stone Cold Queen Stone Cold Queen by Lucy Smoke
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Stone Cold Queen is book two in the Sick Boys series by Lucy Smoke and boy does it start off with a bang! If you have read the first book in this series, you know we were left with a cliff-hanger and some rather important questions unanswered. Well, from the first page, we are thrust face first back into Avalon’s life and finding out some more truths about her and Dean’s relationship as well as others that are around her.

This is a no holds barred book. Avalon is an intriguing character in the sense that she is brash, rough around the edges and unapologetic for the way she lives her life. Having been burnt by so many people before, she is slow to trust and always trusts her instincts. Her relationship with Dean and the rest of the Sick Boys is complicated and intense. There are moments where both Dean and Avalon’s toxicity and possessiveness comes through with each other, but they are both so passionate and stubborn that they really do work well together. I wouldn’t say either Dean or Avalon are likeable characters, but there is something about them which makes you keep turning the pages to find out what else is going to happen!

Like book one, this book is full of questions, some which get answered, some which become more confusing and conflicting. Characters change sides depending on how the wind is blowing and you are still left trying to figure out how Avalon fits into the whole thing.

This book is gritty, unapologetic and suspenseful. Lucy Smoke is a must-read author, and I can’t wait to see what else is to come for Avalon and the Sick Boys.

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊
