The Fool by Lani Lynn Vale
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

The Fool by Lani Lynn Vale tells the story of Keene and Ande.  Keene and Ande first make each other’s acquaintance in an airport and from there it is insta-love. When Ande has something tragic happening in her life, Keene thinks nothing of being by her side and helping her through the process, especially when it puts her life in danger. Keene and Ande just click as characters as well as with each other’s families. I love that Keene is a strong man but can be vulnerable with Ande, especially when he tells her about his life and his mission and how that may affect his relationship with her. He doesn’t shy away from the hard things.

The same can be said for Ande, she has an inner strength inside of her and such a supportive family. She wants the truth and having Keene by her side makes her fight for it. I especially enjoyed the banter that both characters had with their families, in particular their siblings, it definitely made you feel like you were standing in their house whilst they aggravated each other.

As with many of Lani Lynn Vale books the characters are often funny, strong, have great connections and feel like family. Overall, a good, quick read with some suspense and lots of romance!

Cursed Wolf is a paranormal romance and book one in the Howling Death MC series by Sophie Ash. The story centres on Emmaline, a sweet veterinarian whose passion is saving animal and who has an affinity with her favourite animal, the wolf. When she accidently hits the wolf and takes it to her veterinary clinic for treatment, she comes to realise that all isn’t what it seems but knows that something bad will happen to the wolf if she doesn’t let it go. What Emmaline doesn’t know is that she is treating shifter Tryn, and Tryn believes that Emmaline is his true mate. As Emmaline meets Tryn the man and they get closer, she is exposed to a world that she has only dreamt of, and by no means is it safe, especially for a human! Will these two characters make it…well I guess you’re going to have to read the book to find out!

Overall, two sweet characters, a slow burn romance with some danger thrown into the mix and a slightly different take on shifters.

Then Hate Me is a dark romance by the writing duo Zoe Blake and Alta Hensley. It tells the story of Marksen and Olivia. Marksen retaliates against his former friend and now enemy by kidnapping his sister Olivia at her brother’s wedding.

This story is about revenge, plain and simple and Olivia is on the receiving end of Marksen doing all her can to wreak havoc not only on her life, but also her brother and former best friend Luc’s life. At times Marksen can be cruel and Olivia seems to be on the receiving end of all that cruelty, in the name of revenge which as you read the book has a few twists and turns into it. There are moments where you genuinely seen Marksen’s remorse, but is it going to be enough at the end to win Olivia back?

If you like your books dark and twisted with some morally grey lines, then this series is going to be the one for you. Duel POV’s add to the story so that we can see what each character is feeling and the additional storyline of Olivia’s brother and what is going on in the background also adds to the suspense. Overall, a good, sexy and dark read!

Review: Before This Ends - Aurora Rose Reynolds

Before This Ends by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Before this Ends is book two in the Before series by Aurora Rose Reynolds and tells the story of Emma and Miles. Emma is recently single, and her life is a little bit up in the air, but she has an instant attraction to Miles and loves his small daughter, Winter. The attraction between the two is instantaneous, but both Emma and Miles don’t want to risk their hearts or those around them in case things don’t work out. Slowly, Emma and Miles come together but quite intensely as they balance their work life and personal lives. The scenes with Winter are wonderful as a boisterous little girl who lives between two parents. Her relationship with Emma is very sweet and just adds to the family feel of this book.

We also have the side story with Miles and his job which is intense and intriguing and how that sometimes spills over into his normal life. But both Miles and Emma just roll with the punches and do what they need to do. Emma questions herself a lot during this book and its because she is such a nice character and wants to help everyone else.

I love the connections that all of the characters have in the story, even the connection Miles has with his ex-wife (even when they are difficult) shows you how relatable these characters are, and that sometimes there are roadblocks in life that take a little time to get around. We also get to see into both characters minds about their relationship with duel POV’s and how both characters feel during the build-up of their relationship. Overall, this is a sweet, slow burn book that I would highly recommend.
