He’s arrogant.

Intolerable.

Cruel.

From the moment we exchanged our first glance, Lennox Lincoln-Ward has been out to destroy me. So I keep my head down at Pembroke Prep, and I stay out of the Hellfire Club’s way. Even so, Lennox finds me, seeks me out until he pins me in his beautiful, withering gaze—the same gaze that sends a chill down my spine and an undeniable tingle to other places.

Lennox is royalty with a dark past. One that I intend to investigate. I’ll find his secrets and expose every lie that rolls off his tongue. But getting close to Lennox has particular dangers—including his mouth, his golden eyes, and the brutally soft touch of his fingers.

I intend to unravel him, but in the end, I may be the one who comes apart, broken in the hands of a callous prince.

Review: Watercolor Skulls - L.M. Terry

Watercolor Skulls: Rebel Skull MC Book Two Watercolor Skulls: Rebel Skull MC Book Two by L.M. Terry
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐  stars

Watercolor Skulls is another beautifully written book by L.M. Terry. It tells the story of Lily, a young woman who seems to have a perfect life, but everything is an illusion and soon that illusion shatters making Lily’s life implode on itself. On her new journey she meets Dan, a tall, tattooed man who is part of the Rebel Skulls MC who helps her come to terms with her past and her future.

This book was a wonderful read. There were true moments of sadness in Lily’s life and it seemed that it would take her under, especially when everything came to light and she sees what her father has done. Her relationship with Dan as well as the other members of the MC was special, showing her that you didn’t have to be blood to be family. This is a slow burn romance with lots going on in the storyline (not only between Lily and Dan).

I enjoyed reading about Dan and Lily’s relationship. Dan has such a great connection with Lily and the rest of the gang, sharing wisdom and vulnerability when it is needed. Lily was also a wonderful character to read about. She was strong, yet vulnerable and seemed to instantly click with everyone, even though she questioned her worth a number of times. We also saw the development of Jesse (Sugar and Skulls) and see how she has matured into a woman who knows her own worth and sees it in others.

Overall, this was a great read, with some rather special characters and an amazing story!

Review: Kingdom's Reign - Monique Moreau

Kingdom's Reign Kingdom's Reign by Monique Moreau
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Kingdom’s Reign is book one in ‘The Demon Squad’ series by Monique Moreau. The book tells the story of Kingdom and Sage. On his visit to a tattoo parlour, Kingdom comes across Sage, a strong and sexy woman who he is instantly attracted too, yet because of his past he isn’t ready to make a move on her, but he’s also not going to allow anyone else to either!

Sage is a no-nonsense attorney. She has come a long way in her career and personal life to be the strong and independent woman that she is, and no biker is going to take that way from her. Especially a domineering, sexy man like Kingdom who seems to take her well ordered life and throw it in the air! Here we have two damaged souls who may just heal each other, but at what price?

As book one in a new series, Kingdom’s Reign starts off with a bang and keeps going until the end of the last page. We have two supremely strong yet vulnerable characters who are intensely attracted to one another, but their past history is making them jaded and is also stopping them from having a healthy relationship as both of them can’t seem to see the forest for the trees. That doesn’t stop them from exploding whenever they are together and there are some very sexy scenes between the two characters.

There are small snippets of life within the MC (I’m sure we’ll see more as the series progresses) as well as some well-placed angst not only between the two main character but also with the MC as a whole. There are moments in this boom which are pure heartbreak, but both characters come out stronger on the other side. Overall, a great start to a new MC series.

Review: Alpha Knight - Renee Rose

Alpha Knight Alpha Knight by Renee Rose
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐ stars

Alpha Knight is book two in the Wolf Ridge High series by Renee Rose. The book follows the relationship of Bo and Sloane. Sloane has literally lost everything and fallen from grace. Put in a difficult situation, Sloane must do what she needs to in order to survive and that even includes getting Bo’s brother to help her out. When Bo’s brother gets himself into trouble, Bo looks at Sloane as the one to blame and he is going to do everything in his powers to make sure that she doesn’t escape from him.

This was a good read. We had two characters that had a lot of chemistry and were willing to do anything to save their respective families. At times Bo was cocky and very sure of himself, especially when it came to teasing Sloane over, her need for him. He was pretty honest on what he would do to help Sloane and there was only a little bit of angst towards the end of the book in regards to their relationship.

Sloane was a strong and sassy character who showed small hints of vulnerability throughout the book. There was a lot going on with her in regards to her father and what he did as well as her growing feelings for Bo, which didn’t change when she found out his secret. I liked that she gave as good as she got when it came to Bo and everything that was going on

Overall, a low angst read with some twist and turns, passion and a page turning storyline.

Review: Sugar and Skulls - L.M. Terry

Sugar and Skulls Sugar and Skulls by L.M. Terry
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - L.M. Terry

Sugar and Skulls is a standalone novel by L.M. Terry. The books focus is primarily on Jesse a young woman who has been through everything that life could throw at someone so young. After the death of her grandparents, Jesse is thrown into the system (which doesn’t treat her too kindly). When she is with one foster family, she meets a tattooed man whose words she keeps close to her heart for a long time, not knowing that it also closes her off to the rest of the world and the good people around her.

Dirk was the tattooed man who one saw what was happening to Jesse and tried to give her some advice to live by, not knowing that he may have helped to create the vixen haired monster in front of him.

We’re bounced through Jesse’s life and all that she has to endure, whilst hearing from other characters about what they see in her and how she is important to them (Jesse just doesn’t realise it). Jesse’s life is full of tribulations, heartache with a side helping of joy as she comes to depend on her new family and what they will do for her in order for her to survive.

This story was intense. There is so much going on and lots of different storylines which all come together in the end. The main focus of the book is certainly Jesse and then her relationship with Dirk, but there are also other characters such as Dan and Raffe who play an integral role in Jesse’s life and story as a whole.

This book is different from anything I have read before. Yes, it’s about an MC, yes it has an age-gap romance, yes its about personal growth, but it is so much more than that. A fast page-burning your fingertips read! I certainly can’t wait to read more form this author! Note – there may be triggers for some readers.

Review: Papa Noel - Nikki Landis

Papa Noel Papa Noel by Nikki Landis
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Papa Noel by Nikki Landis is a quick and steamy novella. The story focuses on Bess and Jayce ‘Papa’. Bess is trying to escape her abusive husband with her young son. She is doing everything right and trying to get her life back when she comes across the older, wiser and hunky Papa.

Papa has been hurt in the past and is trying to get on with his life with his MC, his brothers and his job when Bess’s son stumbles into his life, reminding him of his past and also allowing him to have a future. The path isn’t easy for Bess, Papa or Bess’s son, Noah, but they are trying to make it work as best as they can before everything gets flipped around.

This was a beautifully written novella, full of passion, happy moments and sad moments, where both main characters have been through a lot in their lives but are willing to make a go of it together. This was a really good book with all of the feels!

Rule No. 2: Show no fear.

They’re vile and twisted.

The only thing more fucked up than the Sick Boys is me, and I’m ready to show them.

The Sick Boys are hiding something from me. They want to pretend like I didn’t kill my rapist and they didn’t help. But we’re not ordinary college students, that much has become clear to me, and I’m growing tired of all of the lies and secrets.

Their masks are cracking and finally, I’m starting to see the grotesque reality underneath. It’s far darker than I ever expected, and it’s not enough. They know everything about me, so now it’s my turn. I fear nothing. Not them. Not the man that I killed or the people who set me up.

Fear is for the weak and I, Avalon Manning, am anything but.
