Wrecked by E.M. Shue is book one in
the Devil’s Handmaidens MC: Alaska Chapter and boy is it an emotional ride. The
book tells the story of Scout aka Riddler who is President of the new Devil’s
Handmaiden MC in Alaska and Thad. Both of the have a complex history and are on
different sides of the law. Years ago, Riddler left with a lot of secrets and
has come back to Alaska with just as many as she tries to find out what
happened to her father. Thad, never understanding why Riddler left has some
resentment towards her, but it is only through him finding out the truth, that
his card of lies falls apart and he is determined to have Riddler in his life
again, no matter how complicated that might be.
This story had a lot of secrets, betrayal
and drama with lots of twist and turns, all which seem to lead back to Riddler,
and not necessarily her fault. I love that she is a strong character who does
have a streak of vulnerability that runs through her. She doesn’t put up with
Thad and his ultimatums and is a wonderful mum to her young daughter. The feelings
that her and Thad have for each other are complex but passionate and also
complicated, making this a wonderful and suspenseful read.
There are some great characters in
this book and I can’t wait to see what more this series has to offer!
