Review: Saving Rain - Kelsey Kingsley

Saving Rain by Kelsey Kingsley
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Saving Rain is an emotional read by Kelsey Kingsley. The story focuses on Soldier a young man who has paid his dues, but who is now looking for redemption. The story is told from his POV and we see him as a young boy, growing up with an abusive mum to what happens to him to become incarcerated, subsequently released and how his life moves along. The biggest thing that Soldier wants is to make his deceased grandfather proud. Along the way he meets a young girl called Rain who he helps, and she never forgets him. It is only when he is an adult that he reconnects with her again and we see these two beautiful people come together even though trials and tribulations are thrown their way.

This was an emotional read  with some emotional world building thrown in as we navigate Soldier’s life. I loved the additional characters such as Harry who saw the goodness in Soldier and understood what he had endured. This story is ultimately about finding redemption and forgiveness in not only others but also yourself, all whilst finding someone who loves you for who you are.  Overall, a really beautiful story.

Review: Wicked Vile King - Jordan Grant

Wicked Vile King: A Dark Asylum Bully Romance by Jordan Grant
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Wicked Vile King is a wild ride of a book by Jordan Grant and it’s book 2 in the Godless Heathens series. This story focuses on Gabriel and Avery. Gabriel is in his senior year at the asylum, he’s definitely a sociopath and instantly smitten with the aloof Avery who has been sent to the asylum by her parents due to her eating disorder. Here in lies the game of cat and mouse and Gabriel does everything possible to make Avery live, even setting her on fire! (you’ve got to read the story to understand).

This is an intense book about two people who have had some horrible things done to them in their lives which results in them ending up in the Asylum, but that place is just as dangerous and things are lurking around the corner that could cost both Gabriel and Avery their insanity (or what’s left of it, if any). Like the previous book, the characters are intense with each other and there are definitely some dark triggers (so be warner).

I don’t want to give too much away, but if you like your book boyfriends crazy, alpha and just downright dangerous, then you’re going to love Gabriel and the lengths he will go to for Avery.

Another great addition to this series!

Review: Strong And Steady - Vanessa Vale

Strong And Steady by Vanessa Vale
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐ stars

Strong and Steady by Vanessa Vale is a steamy romance with some really sweet characters. Emory is a woman who has empty nest syndrome since her teenage son has gone away from college. She doesn’t date due to being hurt by her ex, but as soon as she sees Grayson Green, she is smitten with this tattooed bad boy. Even though she doesn’t know who he is, she is taken by his sweetness and protectiveness.

Gray is retired from the MMA scene and is looking for someone who doesn’t know he’s famous and that’s who he finds in Emory, the sweet and shy woman he meets at a friend’s wedding. Instantly he knows that she is the woman for him, but danger lurks around the corner and he is going to go to any lengths to make sure that Emory isn’t hurt!

I really enjoyed this book, and it was more of a slow burn, quick read. Emory and Gray are suited for each other and although there is a little bit of angst, the story mainly focuses on the two of them getting together whilst dealing with their own baggage. Overall, a good and entertaining read.

Review: Stripped - L.A. Wayward

Stripped by L.A. Wayward is a fast paced, sexy novella. The story focuses on  Raider, Colson and Daisy and their complex relationship. The story starts with Raider being in prison for many years and he isn’t the man that he was when he went in. Dark, blunt and hardened, the only people he can think about and depend upon are Daisy and Colson. His feelings for Daisy are intense and he wants her with a passion. The same can be said for Colson, Raider just has to come to terms with his feelings about him and how the abuse that he has seen from his father’s hand has made how he thinks about that relationship more difficult.

There is instant attraction in this story, with some wild, sexy scenes (which may have triggers for some readers).  As Raider struggles with his past and tries to get plans he’s put into place whilst in prison done, he has to keep the truth from Daisy, but Daisy is feisty enough to know that there is more going on and won’t let up until she knows the truth.

This is a very fast paced novella with some quick themes and a quick story which is entertaining, sensual and with some great characters. A must read to wile away a few hours.

Review: Grave Robber - Skye McNeil

Grave Robber by Skye McNeil
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐ stars

Grave Robber by Skye McNeil is book one in the Twisted Brotherhood MC series. The story focuses on the characters Grave Robber, a man with a past who still seems to be living out his trauma of the death of his wife and child. Enter Aubry Baldwin a gossip columnist who comes across a juicier story when she overhears a conversation from MC members. From there, Aubry is in Grave Robber’s sights and even though they have an instant attraction, when Aubry falls pregnant, Grave Robber’s feelings become emotional and at times harsh. 

Whilst Aubry is on a hunt for the truth, it also puts her in the crosshairs of some dangerous men, and Grave Robber will stop at nothing to protect Aubry, even if it is from himself. There were moments in this book where there were some shades of grey on how Grave Robber treated Aubry (this could be due to his past), and Aubry just seemed to take it. But overall, this was a good start to a new series with an MC who are definitely on the wrong side of the law.

If you like strong alpha males, with little moral code, feisty women and some actions, then this is the book for you.
