TRYING TO SCORE
By Kendall Ryan
Release Day: November 12, 2019

About the Book

“Make a sex tape,” they said.

“It’ll be fun,” they said.

Spoiler alert: they lied.

I’m an overworked attorney, but hey, at least my latest case is an interesting one. I’ve been hired to help my friend Teddy keep a sex tape he made years ago private. And considering Teddy is a pro hockey hunk with a huge reputation and an even bigger following, this news can’t get out.

Plus, I have an extra interest in making sure that tape never sees the light of day. Because the other person in that video?

Is me.

Your favorite hot jocks are back with an all new stand-alone novel. If you like sexy, confident men who know how to handle a stick (on and off the ice), and smart women who are strong enough to keep all those big egos in check, this series of athlete romances is perfect for you!

Excerpt Reveal: Ares - Gemma James

ARIES (THE ZODIAC QUEEN #1) by Gemma James
Release Date: October 1st

Add to Goodreads:

Blurb:

Twelve men. A virgin queen. One arranged marriage.

The first time I met the boys of the Zodiac Brotherhood, I was forced to my knees for the introduction. Still grieving the death of my parents, I was a child queen, a pawn in my uncle’s agenda for wealth and gain. As my guardian, he had the authority to arrange a marriage upon my eighteenth birthday.

That meeting took place six years ago.
Now those boys are powerful men.
Twelve virile men that want to own me.

And I must spend a month with each one.
Bending and yielding to their desires and commands.
Shedding pieces of my innocence so long as my virtue remains intact.

Because they want a virgin queen after the last month concludes, and my uncle plans to auction me off to the highest bidder.

Out of the twelve men, only one has my heart.
And only one can claim my hand in marriage.
If only it were up to me to decide.

Excerpt:
I hold my breath as my uncle’s hand hovers over the line at the bottom. One flick of his wrist and a little ink, and life as I know it will change forever. That ink will be the start of the end.

Fighting tears, I watch my uncle scrawl his name across the bottom. He sets the pen down carefully, paying small homage to the significance of this moment and the destruction ricocheting through my heart.

“Excellent,” Liam says as he stands. “Before you take your leave, I do need a show of good faith from Novalee.”

I’m trying not to wither under the chancellor’s scrutinous stare when my uncle asks the only question in my head.

“What do you have in mind?”

Liam’s light brown eyes refuse to waver from mine. “A sexual favor as a show of her commitment to the contract. Her virginity will remain intact, of course.”

I jump to my feet. “I will do no such thing!” It’s a gut-instinct reaction—an absurd one if I take into account what will be expected of me in the next twelve months.

Liam's only response is a challenging arch of his brow. “You'll do it because I demand it.”

My uncle stands, shooting me a look of warning. “Remember your place, dear niece.”

“My place?” I cross my arms, incredulous, and glare at both of them. “And what exactly is my place?”

“That would be on your knees,” Liam says, taking a step closer.

“Why? Because you’re the chancellor?” I challenge in a scathing tone, knowing full well my mouth will get me into serious trouble with this man if I’m not careful.

“No, my queen. Though it’s customary to kneel in the chancellor’s presence, my reasons are a matter of logistics.”

“Logistics?” I say unbelievingly.

“Yes. The position will provide more efficient use of your mouth.”

I turn to my uncle. “You can't allow this!” The plea echoes, and I’m positive everyone on the first floor hears my outburst.

Rowan sets a heavy hand on my shoulder. “Obedience to the Brotherhood is your duty, Novalee. Kneel before the chancellor.”

I stiffen my legs, refusing to submit even as my eyeballs burn from the impossibility of the circumstances, because no amount of begging for a different outcome will make the resolution on either man’s face waver.

Because there is no freedom on this island.

No rights as queen of a foreign nation.

No choice.

The unyielding weight of my uncle’s grip sends me to my knees. My chest heaves with indignation as Liam stands in front of me, hands at his back, shoulders wide as the bulge behind his zipper taunts me with what I’ll face for the next twelve months.

Twelve men.

Headstrong and virile.

And all of them determined to own me.

Review: Forever and All the Afters - K.I. Lynn

Forever and All the Afters Forever and All the Afters by K.I. Lynn
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Who knew love could be so bittersweet in this romantic read by K.I. Lynn. Forever and All the Afters focuses on main character Aubrey, a sweet girl who seems to have lost her way somehow and forgotten who she is. Both Aubrey and Caleb work together, Aubrey as an Interior Designer and Caleb as the person who renovates and flips houses, they are also engaged and everything seems perfect…or so it seems. Aubrey is focused on the wedding and on her life in general, but she keeps thinking about the high school sweet heart that got away….Pike. He left many years ago and Aubrey hasn’t been the same since, until she bumps into him again and all of her old feelings rise to the surface, both good and bad.

Pike left Aubrey because he also had a plan, he and Aubrey were young and both had ambitions which sadly took them to different states, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t stopped wanting her, or thinking about her. Even though she is with another man, it isn’t going to stop Pike from making sure Aubrey knows how he feels.

This is an emotionally charged book, not only do you have a love triangle of sorts. You also have a somewhat main character Caleb, who is a totally horrible character in my opinion added into the mix. There were times reading the book where you cringed because of what he said or did, as well as times you wanted to just shake Aubrey. Graphic scenes were handled really well, but may be a trigger for some readers. And the heart to heart Aubrey’s mum and best friend, Nora have with her was spot on and you feel yourself rooting for Aubrey to get her courage and strength and make that decision to leave Caleb.

Pike and Aubrey together are a really sweet couple and although there are some difficulties when they meet again and try to forge a relationship, you actually feel Pike fighting to give them a chance and understanding what Aubrey has to work through before she moves into another relationship as well as tell Pike some things that she has kept to herself.

If you love first love romances, you are going to love this book and may even get a tear in your eye at points as well as wanting to get out the boxing gloves too!

ARC received for a fair and honest review.

Review: Burn - Suzanne Wright

Burn Burn by Suzanne Wright
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Burn is an amazingly written book which focuses on demon tattooist Harper Wallis. Harper’s life is pretty simple, she works hard, plays hard and lives for the people in her lair. Things change overnight when she finds out that she has a psychic mate or ‘anchor’ as it is called throughout the book, but not just too any anchor, to a demon who is rumoured to be the most powerful demon in existence.

But this story is not about smooth sailing; instead it is about two independent people fighting who and what they are to each other, whilst those around them try to sabotage not only their relationship but the world of the demons in general.

The main characters are amazing in this book. To begin with we have Harper, who is sassy, strong and independent. This is in comparison to Knox who is raw, male sexuality, wrapped up in a blanket of hotness/evilness. The two characters have a lot of chemistry which can be seen throughout the book and can I say it is H.O.T! Psychic fingers…..what! There is also some primal dominance from Knox which works really well in the book and doesn't take away from Harper's independence, if anything she totally embraces it. Other secondary characters such as Jolene and the Sentinels are fun and give you a bigger picture not only of how demons work but also of the friend/family unit that both Harper and Knox come from.

I really liked the appearance of Knox’s demon and would have liked to have seen more of it. There was just something that was ultimately intriguing about it…..hopefully he will pop up as his domineering self in other books.

The book doesn’t just focus on the romance of Harper and Knox; it also focuses on how the demon society works and what extents people will go to too have power. The story as a whole was very intriguing as normally a book about demons borders on the side of horror, but definitely not this book.

If you like a bit of paranormal romance with some hot scenes, then this one is definitely for you! And onto the next book I go…

Review: Remember Me - Nelle L'Amour

Remember Me: A Second Chance Romance Remember Me: A Second Chance Romance by Nelle L'Amour
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐ stars

Remember Me is a second chance romance with a twist. It looks at the lengths that you are willing to go to too uncover the truth, even if that puts you in danger.

The book focuses on Skye and Finn and what lengths they will go to, too have their HEA. The writing is intriguing and intense and has so many twists that you need to try and keep up with what is going on in the story. There isn’t a lot I can say without giving you spoilers but if you like a good, complicated, emotional book, then this is for you.

This story is written from both characters points of view which gives you a better understanding of the characters and what is going on around them. There also may be triggers for some readers.

ARC received for a fair and honest review.
