Review: Rainbow - K.L. Savage

Rainbow Rainbow by K.L. Savage
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Rainbow by K.L. Savage is book one in the Ruthless Kings MC: Baton Rouge series. The book focuses on Rainbow and Ryan. Rainbow and his brother  went through a lot with the death of their parents when they were teenagers. It leaves Rainbow wanting to be look after everyone as well as giving him a passion to be a firefighter and smokejumper, which puts him in danger every day.

Ryan is the sassy paramedic who has rules against sexy, straight firefighters, but he has an insta-attraction to Rainbow when he meets him. When Ryan’s life is put in danger, Rainbow comes to his rescue, and they have to figure out if they can make it work when it seems that someone is against them.

This story is action packed, not only are the men dealing with a hurricane hitting them, but also Rainbow continuously putting himself in danger and someone in the MC trying to kill everyone. Wrapped up in the suspense is love, which is the premise for the whole story. Even though Rainbow is classed as straight, he feels instant passion and feelings for Ryan and even though they are both scared, they just seem to click instantly.

I also love the relationship that Rainbow has with his brother. He is protective of him but also helps his brother to stay strong. It will be interesting to see if Mime gets his own stories and what else is going to happen within the Ruthless Kings MC.

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊

Review: Untraceable - Laura Griffin

Untraceable Untraceable by Laura Griffin
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Untraceable by Laura Griffin was a fast paced read centering on character Alex Lovell a PI who has a background in computers and making people disappear. Alex has helped Melanie Bess escape her abusive husband, but now things aren’t adding up when Melanie goes missing and is feared dead. Alex tries to get the help of Austin police detective, Nathan Deveraux and a forensic scientist group known as Tracers, but as more of the case unfolds, the more complicated it gets, especially when Alex’s lead suspect is a police officer.

This story had a lot going on in it, not only are we following Alex’s story as well as her relationship past and present with Nathan, but also a few other characters. There are also a lot of twist and turns as we try and figure out what has happened to Melanie and her role in what is going on. Alex is like a dog with a bone, she doesn’t let things go and often puts herself in danger, much to Nathan’s frustration.

As a first book, there were a lot of characters to get to know and I’m hoping when reading more of this series that we find out a bit more about them as well as a bit more about Alex’s background as we only got snippets of it throughout the story. Overall, the story was well written with a lot of suspense, drama and some romance. It is going to be fin reading what else is going to happen to Alex and Nathan. A really enjoyable read!

Review: Snow Falling - Davidson King

Snow Falling Snow Falling by Davidson King
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐ stars

Snow Falling by Davidson King was a quick M/M read for me. The story focuses on Snow, a young man who is living on the streets. His rules are, don’t give anyone your name, don’t tell anyone your secrets and trust no one. It is only when he comes to the aid of a young boy that his life is turned upside down and he has to learn, not only to trust but to let go of the secrets that have put his life in danger. To make matters more complicated, the young boy that he saves only happens to be the nephew of Christopher Manos, one of the most powerful crime bosses in the country!

This was a really sweet story and less about the mafia and more about two people meeting and falling for each other, regardless of their backgrounds. I loved how free Snow was with Christopher and how he gave Christopher a little bit of vulnerability which made him more likeable, especially when we saw that he would move heaven and hell to be with Snow.

Snow was just one of those likeable characters who seemed to make people feel good no matter where he was. He also tended to sacrifice himself a little bit more than was necessary, but everything came up smelling roses in the end.

There is a little bit of steamy romance in this book, but the book definitely focuses more on who Snow is as a person tan anything else. Overall, it was a good read with some good characters.

Review: The Queen of All that Dies - Laura Thalassa

The Queen of All that Dies The Queen of All that Dies by Laura Thalassa
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

The Queen of All that Dies by Laura Thalassa was a quick read for me in an exciting and unique book. The world has ended as we know it, the Eastern and Western Hemisphere have been at war for years and left the land uninhabitable, millions of people dead and only one person in power…King Lazuli. King Lazuli is ruthless and takes what he wants, when Serenity Freeman and her father turn up as representatives of the WUN (Western United Nations), he knows that he will stop at nothing to have her! Bit Serenity is not so easily swayed and they [lay a type of cat and mouse game, only with supremely high stakes!

I really liked reading about Serenity’s character. She is hard, strong and doesn’t take any rubbish from the King. In fact, she gives as good as she gets, a true warrior! Throughout the story she continues to fight her attraction to the King, and it is only through manipulation from both sides of the camp that Serenity’s feelings change for him.

King Lazuli is also a unique character. We learn more about him and his background as the story goes on and although he has an insta-type of love for Serenity, he definitely has to work for it. He is pure destruction wrapped up in some sexy arrogance.

The story has a lot going on in it, from both sides as we see why people go to war and the repercussions it has. As well as watching people being played like a game of chess for the ‘greater good’, friends become enemies and enemies become friends in this action-packed book. There are also some heart-breaking moments, especially with Serenity’s father as well as Serenity itself and a lot of mystery that surrounds the King and his long life. You’re going to have to read it to find out what happens and then read the next book in the series as we’re left with an epic cliff-hanger. Another great read from a great author.

Review: Always Been You - Lily Miller

Always Been You Always Been You by Lily Miller
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Always Been You by Lily Miller is a sweet, second chance romance. Livy and Parker were always meant to be together, they had something special, but in the blink of an eye Livy’s world is torn apart and she leaves behind the only man that she has ever loved! Fast-forward eight years and Livy is thrown into Parker’s circles again when she is asked to arrange flowers for his mother’s anniversary and literally, we have instant sparkles! But is Livy willing to risk everything she has worked for to be with Parker and is he willing to change his life in New York to come back home?

This was a beautiful story seen through both Livy and Parker’s eyes. Livy came across as really vulnerable due to her past hurts and she certainly didn’t want to get hurt again, no matter how much she loved Parker. I loved the moments when she was at the beach as it gave her such in depth feeling as a character as she thought through her choices, not only for herself and Parker, but also for the rest of her family.

I really enjoyed Parker as a character, he knew that he still wanted Livy and was honest in how it made him feel when she broke them up. At times, he was a little too understanding, but it definitely worked for this couple. I also loved Parker’s family, they offered some great advice and didn’t hold what Livy’s dad did against her.

This was such a sweet romance, with some scorching scenes between the main characters. I loved how in sync they were even though sometimes their lack of communication was a little frustrating and got in the way of them having their happily-ever-after a little quicker.

Overall, a really good second chance, feel good story!

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊

Review: Kiss of the Blood Prince - Alessa Thorn

Kiss of the Blood Prince: A Fated Mates Fae Romance Kiss of the Blood Prince: A Fated Mates Fae Romance by Alessa Thorn
My rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 stars

Kiss of the Blood Prince by Alessa Thorn is a fast-paced fantasy fae read. The story focuses on the relationship of human Elise and Fae Prince Kian. Kian takes Elise as his slave when he finds her on a train full of humans that have tried to kill each other due to fae magic. He is instantly ensnared by her but has harsh and dark feelings towards anything human. Taking her away and keeping her as his slave is the only option and it is only through her mistreatment and taking of her blood that he sees how important Elise is going to be not only to his people, but also to him!

Elise is a strong character, she has to endure the torture and treatment of the fae, whilst trying not to respond to her feelings for Kian who seems to get under her skin at every opportunity. I enjoyed the fact that she didn’t shy away from him and wouldn’t stay a docile prisoner.

As this is the first book in the series, we get a comprehensive history of what has happened to Kian and his brothers as well and it is violent and bloody. Elise is Kian’s saving grace and makes him become more human and think through his actions a little bit more.

There are certainly dark moments in this book and to be honest, the only one you really feel any empathy for is Elise as she struggles being the pawn in a new and dangerous game of survival. Overall, the story is a quick read with lots going on in it. Scenes are steamy between the two main characters but there always seems to be an edge of violence to the whole book which keeps you turning the page. A really good read!
