Paper Doll by C.J. Primer is book one
in the Kings of Corvus College series and boy is it a dark and triggered read.
The story focuses on Mia who is packed off to a new college by her mum and new
step day (something dodgy going on there), where she falls prey to her
stepbrother Raf and his friends Ford and Wes, the kings of the college and who
are there to make Mia’s life as difficult as possible! Think blackmail,
bullying, questionable situations and a whole lot more. Mia in turn becomes the
boy’s property and boy do they put her through the ringer (and not always on a
nice way!) But Mia doesn’t go down easy and tries as hard as she can to not
fall victim to the boys, even when they turn on the charm.
This book is definitely filled with
twists and turns, and you are left guessing about what is going to happen to
Mia at the end and whether her boys will step up. If you like dark, bully reads
then this is a good book to while away a good couple of hours.
Be advised that the author has
suggested triggers and warnings in this book that could be triggering.
