Review: Where We Belong - Ashley Munoz

Where We belong is book 2 in the Stone Riders MC by Ashley Munoz and boy is it an emotional one! We follow the story of Killian and Laura, both who have been on their own journeys to get where they are. Killian hand Laura have so much tension in their relationship as they try to figure out if they are enemies, lovers or friends. Killian is sometimes a hard character to like as he can be quite mean to Laura, who is trying to find her place in the MC but doesn’t know if she will stay and put down roots. Whereas Killian’s life has been in limbo a little bit in the MC as he figures out why he was passed over and how his father (who is in prison) fits into what is happening with his MC.

There is a lot of back and forth between the two characters, with some lack of communication and misunderstandings, especially on Killian’s part and how he feels about Laura. It is a good thing that she never gives up on him, especially when she learns about his past.

There are a lot of twist and turns in this book, some suspense and plenty of hot and heavy times between the two characters. There are some unexpected moments between the characters (not only the main two) and it will be interesting to find out what is going to happen to other characters in the next book. I loved that Killian pushed Laura to say what she thought, and that Laura was feisty and protective from the get-go, making her an awesome ‘old lady’.

 I haven’t read this author before, but if this is the calibre of book that she writes, then count me in as a number one fan! I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Hunted by a Shadow is book 3 in the Kings of Mafia series by Michelle Heard and boy is it a page turner. The story focuses on Renzo Torrisi and Skylar. When something tragic happens to one of Renzo’s family members, he is not only devastated but angry, angry enough to set the world on fire and find out who committed this atrociousness against not only him, but the Mafia in general. In his quest for justice, he finds Skylar, a woman who is only trying to survive the punches life has thrown at her, but her survival comes at a cost which puts her in the path of Renzo, and he is going to do everything in his power to punish Skylar….even when he knows deep down that she’s innocent.

This is a fast-paced story, set in the world of the Mafia, so expect bloodshed, torture and passion thrown into the mix. Renzo is a hard character to like at the beginning and this can be seen in the way that he treats Skylar. Although she isn’t a doormat, it does take a lot for her to stand up against Renzo. But like most enemies to lovers’ books, things start to turn around about halfway through the book when Skylar goes through her own tragedy. Throw in a lot of confusion and mixed messages and these two characters taking a long way to get to a short cut and you haven’t got a bad romance. Passion definitely flows between the two as does some action and suspense as Renzo tries to find the answers not only to his questions but Skylar’s too.

This book does have quite a few triggers for some readers, so be warned before you go in. But overall, this was an enjoyable book which wiled away a few hours.

Review: Redemption's Edge - Alyssa Day

Redemption’s Edge by Alyssa Day is book 3 in the Vampire Motorcycle Club and tells the story of Meara and Edge. Thiers is a complicated yet passionate relationship, especially since both characters try and stay apart from each other, mainly due to consequences if they ever got together. Edge has reasons due to the experimentation done to him and Meara has a secret that she hopes that Edge doesn’t find out….see how complicated their relationship is!

As with the previous books, this one also has a lot of action, suspense and passion with the element of family being at its core, whether it is made or found. The Vampire MC are still trying to get rid of the Council and the Council are set on annihilating them add into this the intense pressure Edge feels for falling for Meara (its literally a killer!) but with lots of complications comes a great story and end to a series.

If you like vampires, werewolves and everything in between, then you’re going to not only enjoy this book, but also this whole series!

Review: Their Ball Boy - Addison Beck

Their Ball Boy by Addison Beck

Their Ball Boy by Addison Beck is both sweet, emotional and laugh out oud at times. The story focuses on three men, Dalton, Juandi and Bryson. Both Dalton and Juandi play professional soccer and have a love/hate relationship with each other, mainly due to the fact that there is something about Juandi that Dalton finds intriguing (even though he identifies as straight) and Juandi is a constant flirt. Enter Bryson, the socially awkward, painfully shy with a case of verbally spewing everything he thinks, and you’ve got three men who have an attraction to each other, making them question who they are, what they will do for love and what they will do for each other.

This was a great book with lots going on as each character is going through their own journey whilst trying to balance a new and sometimes precarious relationship. There are some adorable scenes in this book as well as some steamy ones. I liked that the story had ups and downs as the characters tried to deal with what life was throwing at them, especially how Dalton felt when trying to figure out his sexuality and the support that he got from his guys.

If you like your characters sweet but charismatic with some sport thrown into the mix, then this is one for you!

Review: Daughter of Sherwood - K.C. Kingmaker

Daughter of Sherwood by K.C. Kingmaker

Daughter of Sherwood by KC Kingmaker tells the story of Robin Hood but from a female point of view. We’re thrust into the life of Robin as she tries to save her mother, survive her abusive father and is thrust into the world of the Merry Men (although not so merry!).

This was a well told story that had a lot of characters, not only do we have Robin and her Merry Men, but also her uncle and her brother (the relationship is quite complex with this one). The story does have a lot of twist and turns, and Robin finds out who are her heroes and who are our villains as we delve into the mindset of each character and find out about their lives as well as their hopes for their relationship with Robin.

Just so that you are aware, this is a reverse harem style book with lots of scenes of Robin and her men. Some relationships happen quicker than others but there is also a great sense of camaraderie between characters and Robin has a good deal of wit and sense of self within herself and with her men. Some of the things that happen to her in this book are horrible and you may/may not see the slight cliffhanger that happens at the end of this book! You certainly feel as though you are living with Robin in the woods at parts of this story, although washing myself in cold river water doesn’t hold much of an appeal for me!

Overall, definitely a different, sexier take on Robin Hood, although I did tend to hear Bryan Adams crooning to me in the background as I read this one! If you like a cosplay, RH romance with elements of surprise than this is the one for you.
