Review: Her Best Friend's Big Bad Brothers - Chloe Kent

Her Best Friend's Big Bad Brothers Her Best Friend's Big Bad Brothers by Chloe Kent
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Her Best Friend’s Big Bad Brothers is a very steamy romance by Chloe Kent. Alyson is doing everything she can to survive, help her father and keep her best friend out of trouble! When her rich, best friend Sienna is cut off financially from her brothers, she ropes Alyson into helping her not only get some money but escape their overbearing ways while she works on herself. The plan and execution were flawless, if only the brothers weren’t that smart, and Alyson is caught in the trap of a lifetime.

Alyson is caught by the brothers and taught a lesson, if only she would let go of her pride to see the truth of their feelings for her! The brothers are exceptionally hot and all different from each other and have their own kinks when it comes to Alyson. They do treat her with kid gloves to begin with, but then those gloves definitely come off! There were times when Alyson was just a little too prideful, but you understood why with some of the backstory that we were given about her.

I would have liked the story to be a bit longer but overall, this was a good read with some good characters and some extremely hot scenes which may not be for everyone. I can’t wait to read Sienna’s story with her men in Montana!

Review: Masked & Miserable - A.J. Downey

Masked & Miserable Masked & Miserable by A.J. Downey
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Masked and Miserable by A.J. Downey is a novella centered around the character Squick and Aaron. Squick is a prospect for the Sacred Heart’s MC, but he is holding part of himself back and that is that he is gay. He is scared that he is going to lose his brothers the same way he lost his family, and it is only by meeting Aaron that he starts to open up his heart more and learn to not only accept himself but accept the love that is around him.

This was an emotional read, taking in Squick’s POV and how he feels about himself and how he won’t hide Aaron even when he is scared of people’s reaction. The conversation between him and Dragon was handled with care and wonderfully written. Aaron was a really sweet character and complimented Squick’s rough edges. I loved that they came from two different backgrounds! A great MM novella from a great author!

Review: Empire of Sin - Rina Kent

Empire of Sin Empire of Sin by Rina Kent
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Empire of Sin by Rina Kent is a standalone book in the Empire series and boy is it a hot read! The story focuses on Anastasia and Knox. Anastasia and Knox meet one night in a bar and there is an instant attraction between the two of them. Yes, Knox is forceful, brutish and an alpha but there is something about him that Ana wants to get to know better. The opening scene between them is hot as they both know it is going to be a one-time thing. Fast forward Ana changes into Jane because of issues that are happening within her family and ending up working for the same company that Knox works for. To say that he is unimpressed by her being deceiving is an understatement and what we are left with is a kind of cat and mouse scenario between the two of them.

There’s a lot of push and pull between the two characters who both have things in their past and present which holds them back, especially from each other. But their chemistry is definitely off the charts and Knox comes through as a kind of tarnished prince in armour to save the day when it comes to Ana.

There was a lot to enjoy about this book and it did have a lot of suspense and twist and turns. Sexy scenes were particularly hot and although Ana/Jane wasn’t my favourite character, Knox literally knocked it out of the park with his domineering and alpha ways. A good, standalone read!

Review: Shadow - L. Wilder

Shadow Shadow by L. Wilder
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐ stars

Shadow by L. Wilder is book 2 in the Satan’s Fury MC: Memphis series by L. Wilder. The story focuses on Alex and Shadow. Alex is a woman with secrets who has left her family behind to keep herself safe and finds herself with a new family and a business that she loves. She is also intrigued by the silent biker, Shadow who comes into her store now and again, but leaves just as silently. But Alex’s world is going to collide with Shadow’s and secrets are going to come to light which will put both of them in danger.

Shadow and Alex’s relationship is a slow burn which develops over time, especially with all of the drama that is going on for both of them. There was definitely a lot going on in the story line, both with Alex’s background as well as that of the MC. This was definitely a quick read for me and although it wasn’t one of my favourites, I still really liked the two main characters and what they brought to each other.

Review: Shattered & Scarred - A.J. Downey

Shattered & Scarred Shattered & Scarred by A.J. Downey
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Shattered & Scarred is book one in The Sacred Hearts MC series by A.J. Downey. The story focuses on the characters Ashton Granger and Ethan ‘Trigger’ Howard. Ashton is a shell of her former self, having to be the ‘perfect’ wife to her abusive husband or suffer the ramifications of being corrected. The night he leaves her battered and abused on the side of the road is also the night that she is saved by non-other than Sergeant at Arms and former Marine Crop Sniper, Ethan who is instantly attracted and protective of the shattered Ashton.

The story follows the development of the two characters relationship as they both come to terms with their past as well as their future together. With Ashton trying to heal from the abuse of her husband and Ethan trying to heal from his past and what he has seen and done. I loved the introduction of other characters in the story and how they embrace the healing Ashton into their mix and see how special she is. The relationship that Ethan and Ashton have with Reaver was also special and sexy.

This was a well written book with not too much drama but more of a focus on two people healing each other. I loved the development of Ashton’s character and how she became a stronger woman with the help of the people around her. She was also just super sweet! Ethan too was a great character with his own ghosts. I would have liked to have known more about his past, but it didn’t take away from the story at all!

If you like MC stories with a slow burn, then this is definitely a read for you!

Review: Wild Man - Kristen Ashley

Wild Man Wild Man by Kristen Ashley
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Wild Man is book two in the Dream Man series by Kristen Ashley. The story looks at the characters Tessa and Brock. Tessa thinks she has found the right man for her, but when her world starts crashing down around her, she realises that he has been lying to her to make a case against her ex-husband and she is caught in the crossfire.

Fast forward months later when Brock enters Tessa’s life again and he isn’t going to take no for an answer as he knows Tessa is the one for him! Throw in some disgruntled ex’s, children and two people trying to figure out their relationship, you’re in for a hot ride.

This book was really enjoyable. Brock is an alpha man who knows what he wants, although sometimes he can come across as domineering, he still listens to Tessa and her wants and needs. Tessa herself is no push over either, especially after everything she has been through, she isn’t going to take anything lying down again, especially when it comes to her ex-husband or anyone else for that matter.

The story was well paced with lots of suspense, drama and passionate scenes between characters. I loved that Tessa had a passion for baking and had a great group of girlfriends who told it like it is! I can’t wait to read more form this author.

But she’s too young, too sweet and good.
But I’ll keep her safe, and I want her happy.
Even if my own heart tells me I’m a fool for not making her mine.

Our one night is electric. She left her mark and burned her goodness into my heart.

There’s no room left for anyone else, only her.
I can’t chase her. I have to let her go.
Sure, she’s a club girl and I could have her under me whenever I want, but I can’t do that to her. I refuse to pull her any deeper into the Diamond MC.

When that decision is taken out of my hands and she’s dragged into the darkness, all I see is rage and bloodshed.

I’ll make them pay. Every single one of them who thought they could steal her away, take her from me.

She’s everything.

And once I have her back, I’ll make sure I never let go.

She’s light and goodness.

EXCERPT

From the corner of the room, I watched as Country flirted with his new woman of the week, Rochelle. To me, it sounded like she was related to a roach. I hated her even before I met her. Pathetic, right? It wasn’t like I was in love with Country. We’d slept together a couple of times, one before and then after his breakup with a different girl. Isla. Both of us had been a little tipsy each time.

So why can’t you get him off your mind?

Shut up, stupid brain.

I didn’t know why my eyes sought him out whenever I entered the compound. Or why my belly clenched when I caught other club ladies flirting with him, or why my heart turned into a wildly buzzing vibrator whenever he smiled or winked at me.

All right, I did know, but I wasn’t going to let my little crush stick.

Not when I could save myself from hurt, since I knew, and I definitely knew, he was a player. He liked younger women, which I was, right along with a heap of other club girls.

I could have pussy punched myself for joining as a club girl when I didn’t even need to. I didn’t have bad parents. I didn’t have someone to hide from or someone after me, as far as I knew. So why did I join? Because I wanted something different and exciting in my life, and when I’d first applied to become one of the club women in the Diamond MC where I wouldn’t sleep with anyone outside of the club they promised I wouldn’t have to have sex with every member. could pick. That was two years ago, when I was a lot more nervous and shy, and the only member I had slept with was Country.

Review: Bully God: An Anthology - Various Authors

Bully God: An Anthology Bully God: An Anthology by R. Holmes
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Half Wicked by Veronica Eden is a seriously hot, short read in the Bully God Anthology. The story focuses on the characters Ariana and Kieran. Ariana just wants to stay under the radar during her last year of school, but that’s not going to happen when she sees and hears something she shouldn’t, especially when it comes to hearing the secrets of Kieran. From there the story progresses quickly as Kieran makes Ariana’s life hell at school, whilst trying not to be attracted to the smart and nerdy girl.

Ariana also gives as good as she gets and although there are points where she is quite vulnerable under Kieran’s rule, there are times when she doesn’t put up with what he is throwing at her. Since this story is part of an anthology, it goes along pretty quickly, and the characters relationship develops at breakneck speed with some sexy times thrown in for good measure! This is definitely a steamy, bully romance with some feels thrown into it for good measure.

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Review: Country - Lila Rose

Country Country by Lila Rose
My rating: ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ stars

Country is book one in the new Diamond MC series by Lila Rose and boy is it a page turner. The story focuses on the characters Country and Dusty. Dusty is a club girl but doesn’t give her body to just anybody! She’s very selective and has her eyes only on one person…Country. Country is an older, alpha male and although he has feelings for Dusty, he puts them on the backburner, thinking that he isn’t good enough for her and wants her to make the first move.  A lot of miscommunication ensues with Dusty trying to put her MC life behind her, but Country isn’t going to let her go and will fight until the ends of the earth for Dusty to realise what she means to him.

Dusty is one of those beautiful characters that has a vulnerability to her that many of us can relate to. She doesn’t think she is good enough, is often lonely and is shy and introverted which sometimes means that people think she is being standoffish. She goes through a lot throughout this book and has to deal with some really nasty people, as well as Country blowing hot and cold. There are moments where she shows her inner strength which makes her ties to the Diamond MC that much stronger and makes Country realise that she would make a great ‘old lady.’

There is a lot of attraction between Country and Dusty, and it was great to see the laugh out loud moments as well as read about their sexy moments together. There are also some fabulous new side characters (who I’m sure will have their own stories to tell). Together, Dusty and Country just work, and it was a great story full of love, family, some serious times but also some funny ones too. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the series brings.

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Review: The Bad Wedding Date - Vicki James

The Bad Wedding Date The Bad Wedding Date by Vicki James
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐ stars

The Bad Wedding Date by Vicki James is a seriously sweet read, with some hilarious and sexy moments in it. It tells the story of Charlotte and Fraser. Charlotte is heading to her sister’s wedding, sadly without a boyfriend in tow and to a wedding she has no interest in with a family who treats her like a joke! Waiting at the bus stop she comes across the breath-taking man Fraser who lures her into conversation. On a whim, she asks him to the wedding from hell, but we find out that Fraser has his own motives for meeting Charlotte and again Charlotte is stuck in the middle feeling like a third wheel.

I really enjoyed the banter between Charlotte and Fraser. The majority of the story was focused on the wedding and Charlotte’s horrible family (they didn’t really redeem themselves other than her dad) and she seemed to be the whipping boy due to her outlook on life. Fraser definitely had her back though and tried to help her out as best he could. The fact that Fraser has ulterior motives changed the story a little bit so that it had a bit more action in it, but it didn’t take away the magic that was Charlotte and Fraser.

A good, sweet read with some cute characters.

Review: Ruthless Creatures - J.T. Geissinger

Ruthless Creatures Ruthless Creatures by J.T. Geissinger
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

Ruthless Creatures is book one in the Queens and Monsters series by J.T. Geissinger. The story follows the characters Natalie and Kage. Natalie lost her fiancรฉ five years ago on the eve of her wedding. Not knowing what happened to him has left her with answered questions and a black cloud which seems to follow her through her life. On the day of her anniversary when she is out with a friend she comes across the dark and mysterious Kage who she also finds out is her new neighbour. He is neither friendly or open and he has an air of violence about him that although Natalie is scared of, she is also intrigued by.

Kage is intense and not at all honest with the reason he has Natalie on his radar. He just knows that he is attracted to her and by having that attraction, he has put her in immediate danger! There are times where he is quite short with Natalie as he flits in and out of her life and we as the reader follow along this slow burn story until both characters combust.

There is a lot going on in this book; suspense, sexy times, vulnerability by both characters as they both come to terms about what their relationship will mean for them. Natalie’s best friend Sloane is hilarious and really adds to the dynamic of the book! There are some dark elements in the book as Natalie searches for the truth not only about her disappearing fiancรฉ but also Kage whose secrets pull her into a dangerous spiral.

Overall, a good start to a new series and a new author for me.
