Afterworld by Olivia Boothe is a Dystopian genre book set into the future as a deadly virus wipes out the majority of the world and those who are left have to defend themselves against the Damned, a kind of apocalyptic zombie. Add into that the Four Horsemen who are scouring for survivors and basically, you’re screwed. Enter Kate, a woman who is just trying to survive who one days gets herself into a bit of a mess and is rescued by Jax, a mysterious man who has secrets, but who is trying to seek redemption for the things he has done in the past. The two of them definitely save each other and the chemistry between the two is pretty hot.

This book had a lot of elements to it, a lot of biblical scenes ( a little bit more than was to my liking), some zombies, some folklore and a lot of questions being asked on why angels didn’t help sooner (a good point that Kate makes throughout the book).

As a first book in a series, it was a good started and I’m sure the other books in the series will take us down the rabbit-hole of what is going on, what is going to happen and how Jax and Kate are going to save the world. This is certainly the book for you if you like zombies and some good characters to introduce you to a new world.

Review: Until Bax - Aurora Rose Reynolds

Until Bax is book 14 in the Until Him/Her series by Aurora Rose Reynolds and tells the story of Bax and Olivia. Olivia comes back to town after a betrayal and to look after her older parents. Upon her return she bumps into her crush Bax and they definitely have a connection but due to Bax being her brother’s best friend and some other complications thrown into the mix, neither really wants to do anything about the attraction but when other things start happening to Olivia, Bax must step up to the plate to protect her and will fight anyone who steps in his way.

This was a really sweet and steamy read. There's enough drama to keep you hooked, characters from previous books pop up and the dynamic between Bax and Olivia is page turning, especially when things start to heat up between them. I really liked the banter between Olivia and Bax, even the mis-communication that happened at times added to the story of two people trying to figure out how they’re going to work when everyone else has an opinion on it. I also liked that we got the POV from both characters and got a sense of what they were thinking/feeling about each other and things that were going on.

Overall, a great addition to this series and some really great characters!

Kojack is book two in the Suicide Kings MC by Nikki Sparxx. The story features a sassy heroine who goes up against Kojack, the Sargent at Arms of the Suicide Kings MC, a strong and dominant man, he is instantly attracted to Isabella when he hijacks her interrogation of a man who may know where he missing sister is. Here we follow Isabella and Kojack down the rabbit hole as they fight their attraction whilst trying to take down a group of people who are out to hurt women and Isabella is soon in their sights. As the story evolves, we see what lengths Kojack and Isabella are willing to go to for each other and the people in their lives.

This was definitely a fast paced read with a lot of action and passion going on. I liked that Isabella was weary about Kojack to begin with, no matter the instant attraction. There’s definitely a lot of steam in this book, but also a lot of action and interaction with the MC brothers. Overall, this was a great read by a new author for me.

Rent Free is Pepper and Atlas’s story and boy is it a doozy! The story centres around Pepper’s sister and the psycho she is and how she influences those around her. (We get a lot of backstories from Pepper and her family which I really liked, and it definitely put what they went through into perspective.) Pepper moves to the same town as her sister to tell her some tragic news, but before she can even do that Atlas is in the way being quite cruel to Pepper and using her. He doesn’t believe her from the offset, even though others around him (including his family) are telling him that Pepper’s sister is a psycho!

I did enjoy Atlas finding out the truth about Pepper and what that meant and I liked how forgiven Pepper was, although sometimes she just seemed to accept what people thought because of her sister. Both Atlas and Pepper together just work, even though it takes a little while for them to get their ducks in a row! I do think I would have liked a little bit more drama with the sister but oh well!

As with previous books there are other characters that pop up that really adds to the family feel of this story and I enjoyed getting a glimpse into Pepper’s family too. Add in the steam, laughs, seriousness and good times and you’ve got a really good book! I can’t wait to see whose next in the series.
